Found this on Miata.net minutes ago and had to bring it over hear. I am just amazed at how slick that folding looks!

Nice! Although I'm sure it won't appeal to the grump grumps on this board, I like it. :thumleft:

Careful who you call a grump grump.... This grump grump is thinking that maybe just possibly there may be room for an NC in his garage after all... But I'm still leaning toward a Mallet Solstice.Quote:

cost?
Just give us a ring when they offer a yellow one! ::Banana::
I love the hardtop convertible idea I also think it's awsome that it's optional!
Plus either option on the MX5 is still so much better than the GM Solstice/Sky model of making the top exactly like a 1953 Corvette since there is no way in the world to make one better even after 53 years! (Although the '53 Vette did have a trunk!) Modern design rocks! Bring back drum brakes!

Looks yummy.

I'd sure like to see a picture of it with the top all the way up.
No official figures, but a British mag estimated 2000 pounds. That translates to about $3700. It makes sence, as the removable hard top is around a $2500 option now.Quote:

Some more specs:
Extra weight will be 36 kg (79.3664144 pounds).
The trunk lid will sit 2cm higher which also requires a slight redesign of the rear fenders.
The luggage space will remain unchanged.
More pics.Quote:

Yep... I don't miss Winning Blue nearly as much now that I see Stormy Metallic Blue! I am sad that they are not offering Marble White with the RHT, but I guess Stormy will do. ;)Quote:

That's hot! I doubt the Mazdaspeed version will use the RHT, though, since it does add a considerable amount of up-high weight.
I'm betting this will sell like hotcakes. It's the first car I've seen that convincingly answers the RHT conundrum of zero trunk space and a fat ::Bum:: (like this Focus RHT)

It's also the first NC I've seen that explains why someone might seriously want to upgrade from the NB.

NOW we're talkin'. That's mighty nice!
Ooo that looks sweet! Love the colour too. Also nice that it's the European spec without the trapezoid tacked on front turn signals!:punchout:
It also looks sexy at that ride height. Too bad we know form experience that the real street version will sit some 2" higher! :punchout:
I really wish Mazda would build a true sports car with a little more cojones than the NC. They've got a beautiful chassis, two wonderful powerplants that would fit (the Renesis and the turbo MZR), and the knowledge to build a sports car that is more than just the sum of its parts.
If I were Mazda, instead of blowing my R&D budget on the answer-to-the-question-no-one-was-asking mini-minivan (Mazda5), a 280hp fwd econobox (upcoming Mazdaspeed3), or a 3800-lb wannabe rally car alternative (Mazdaspeed6), I'd be building a sweet little fixed roof 2-seater with some FD styling cues on the NC chassis. Offer it with a turbo MZR or a Renesis at similar price and power levels (much like Subaru offers both a flat six and a turbo flat four Legacy), keep the weight around 2700-2800lbs, offer a version with cloth seats, a limited slip, a/c, and not much else starting around $28k, and watch the world beat a path to my door.
They've got the engines, the chassis, and the know-how to do it right, and based on the pricing of the Mazdaspeed6, the CX7, and the RX-8, they ought to be able to turn a profit with that hardware at that price point. All they need are a pair of big brass ones.
