Are these events any good? Course design? organazation?
what's the time schedule? I could not find that anywhere on the useless website they have. :-\
I'd like to do a weekend thing, but I don't want to waste my tires and time if the event will bite. I'm 90% sure I'll go both days and 99% sure I'll go sunday.

Here's an example of a BMWCCA event at Mineral Wells:

Their course designers are not used to designing for small spaces like the bus lot and Pennington, and they have the mentality of having to have long courses. So they end up cramming too much stuff into a smaller lot. They are more in their element at Mineral Wells where they have very fast but usually not very technical courses.
Give me a call if you are running late on Sat. and I'll make sure you don't miss out on anything.
I like the BMW events because you get 7 or 8 runs. You will not find it to be a waste of your tires and time. It is run differently than SCCA and ER, though. You get four quick runs, work, then your last three or four runs.
I find that each club has different types of courses, none better than the other. Just different.

This is from the LSCBMWCCA website. I'd like to get there at the latest 8:00 to change my tires. Anybody want to meet at McDs at 7:00? Yes, a canopy and chairs would be nice. They usually run 3 run groups so you sit around during one, or go to lunch.
Tech Inspection
All participant vehicles must pass Tech Inspection on site.
Tech Inspection begins at 8am and will close at 9am.
Mandatory Driver's meeting at 9am.
First car will start around 9:30am after a low speed drive through.
Rides in all competing vehicles are free as long as the driver doesn't mind having you as ballast,
however a helmet must be worn. There are loaner helmets available for those that do not own
their own helmet.... (Helmets must be rated M-95 or SA-95 or newer)
Not one of my better days in regards to position (7th in X-class at 1:18), but I did learn a lot riding with Nathan Dyke. Man, he was fast. I improved 2 seconds after that. Now maybe I can use the knowledge to do better tomorrow at the SCCA event.
Also got a sunburn. I have that nice racoon look where my eyes are white from my glasses.

Thanks to the ride along and a lot of talking about the course and driving styles over lunch I managed to eek out a win in the Y-class over miata_racer by a tenth of a second. In his defense, he was finishing off a set of V710s and managed to delam them by the end of the afternoon (mine are at about 60 runs).

THomas' car was interesting and it was cool seeing him go that fast. :) I was glad to "be of use" Saturday. ;)

LOL. I think it has potential as is. But it could use some alignment fine tuning as we talked about. I agree the small toe out is probably nessacary. Maybe 1/16 total toe out to start. Then you can always add more at an event. :)
The story from mazda is one full per side is equal to like roughly 1/4in toe out. So I go 1/2 a turn on one side out then if it needs more another 1/2 turn out on the other side (total of about 1/8 out then). That's what I had both days this weekend to make the car work.
