Well... I hate to say it but I'm starting to consider selling the Miata.
Before you freak out, here's the deal...
I'm getting back into some of my old hobbies (RC flying mainly) and the Miata is no longer suitable for hauling stuff. As in I'm lucky if I can get one of my planes in the car and a helicopter in the trunk. And with several purchases coming up, I KNOW I'm going to be struggling.
Now the bad part.
I'm looking for either
1. Minivan
2. Station wagon
3. SUV that gets at least REASONABLE mileage
I said years ago that I would shoot myself if I ever bought a minivan. I guess it's time to break out the paintball gun.
I was planning to buy a van off my mom but she needs the entire price right off and I can't afford it. Plus I doubt I could afford to pay the upkeep and insurance on 2 vehicles at once, at least right now.
Now the good news!!
When I move into a permanent address, I want another Miata to fix up. I just can't use one right now.
Now here's the main question:
What do you think my NA is worth?
1992 C-package, 158K
Black w/ white stripes, paint less than a year old.
Tan interior, leather seats.
Black top, less than a year old in perfect condition.
Timing bump to 16 degrees BTDC
Custom intake (had to be done, former owner did a useless intake mod)
Custom dual exhaust (also comes with stock dual exhaust. Well kinda stock. Modded stock. Whatever)
Has the chin spoiler, also painted.
Everything but AC works, except both windows were converted to manual.
CRI air horn.
Sylvania Silverstar headlights.
Painted aftermarket mudguards on all fenders.
Removed cruise control and windshield cleaner bucket thingy.
About to remove non-working AC, I have another compressor that works.
The car is very clean on the outside. The interior is okay but the seats are a little rough (leather). The carpet is getting worn a bit. Needs a little interior TLC.
The engine runs VERY well and I can tell a big difference after the timing bump. I'm running Royal Purple oil now.
In my humble opinion, I think this would be a great car for someone wanting to get into Miatas. I haven't done anything with suspension, brakes, roll bar, or anything like that yet. Fresh paint, new top, perfect wheels and good tires, and a great engine should be good selling points.
Only exterior problems are something weird with the front bumper cover causing it to bow out slightly. Not noticeable except when you look closely.
Other than that, the rear license plate surround has a crack on the right side.
The car was crashed once (low speed) and had some body damage. NO FRAME DAMAGE at all, I drove it for weeks like that before I could get it repaired. All body work is great.
What did I miss?
I'm thinking about $3600
Here's some old pics, the lip spoiler is no longer there and obviously the car now has silver Enkei wheels.
