There are studs coming out of the head, with nuts that hold the stock header on them. You will use this original hardware with the new header. The hard part will be getting all of those 13 year old nuts off. Air tools and a can of PB Blaster is a must.
Sweet, i already have both of those from redoing the Tranny. Thank you for your help. Another question, how hard is it to get the manifold out and the headers in. Time wise. I have a whole exhaust system i would like to get installed in one day!
There are a couple of 'em that are a real ::Censor:: to get to... The ones where the downpipe connect to the manifold are a real PITA... and so is the one connecting the downpipe to the bracket that bolts to the transmission.
When you take off the heatshield the lower bolt usually comes off with the bracket under it still attached. The welds tend to crack.
Also, when you remove the stock manifold it tends to be a little brittle after years of heating/cooling cycles and will easily crack around the collector welds.
PB Blaster the nuts the night before and again when you go to loosen them. Your timeline is doable depending on how smoothly everything goes.
I'd look into replacing the nuts if they are really rusty. They may get chewed up when you go to remove them.
On my 99 it took 5 hours or so. I dont remember exactly. It was a few years ago. I did it by myself. I did soak all of the bolts. And since my car is newer everything came off fairly easier. You might schedule a little extra time.
Thank you for all the help guys, hopefully this weekend I will be able to post up pictures of all the new exhaust.
Currently on the way is Polished Racing Beat headers, Magnaflow Cat, and Monza Exhaust.
Why did you get HeaderS? Only one is needed on a Miata........
Well so far i have recieved everything but the HEADER.....lol...anyways I am getting excited to get everything installed!!!!
