Got it... it pissed me off so bad I now watch TV over an antenna.
The DVR did a great job of recording pictures, but kept recording them without the accompanying sound.
However, don't expect to be able to reach their customer service number unless you have a Verizon phone number.
Rant off.
Did I mention that FIOS TV service can lick my left nut? I'd say the same thing about Time Warner if I thought I could tolerate the useless *#$&&#$'s at Veri$on as an ISP, but I can't.
Are you having trouble with Time Warner television or Internet?
Well, that's depressing. When the service sucks this bad I imagine how rewarding it will be to tell them, "screw you guys, I'm going to switch ISPs". But it sounds like Verizon is using the same service playbook?
It's the internet that's the problem. Our basic has picked up a bunch of channels (all super-staticky!) but with a VoIP home phone the going-on-five-days outage has me fuming. We've spent a couple of hours on hold (multiple attempts) and get to do it again tonight when our "weeknight" cell phone minutes kick in.
A little more caffeine and I can see myself going on a rampage...
What is the issues you've had with FiOS TV service?
I know people that have gotten their high speed internet love it, but I've yet to hear much actual feedback on their TV service... I'm interested to hear your opinions. (namely, b/c we build most of their hardware here at my office)
When we moved a few months back, I switched to ATT DSL and Dish TV (bundle deal). So far, so good. ::2Cents::
I have the internet and the phone service is getting hooked up today, but i am sticking with Dish for the tv. Outside of a stupid installer who put the router in a bad place the service has been good and speeds are up when my computer can get a good signal from the router.
Everything in Standard Def was fabulous.
Everything in High Def was fine... if I watched live... which I never did.
When playing back recorded high def, the box would stop responding to commands. It also caught Tivo syndrome a few times... You'd hit a few commercial skips and it would skip right on out to the end of the show.
Lots of random reboots. Had the same issue with the same DVR hardware from Comcast. watching a show and POOF! Reboot. Super nice when you have to start watching again from the beginning - and on the Comacst box had no visual indicator of how far through the show you were.
Basically we just reached a point where the only thing we wanted to watch on TV that we couldn't just wait and get from Netflix was Formula 1 and stuff that's on broadcast networks. Mythbusters I can live without, but it may hurt a bit.
FiOS internet, phone, and HDTV here since I moved to Murphy back in July. No problems, the bundle is cheaper than what I was paying Charter for HDTV and high-speed cable at the old house, the connection speed is amazing, and I've never had any problems with the two Motorola HD DVRs I have in the house currently. Live TV is amazing, and recorded TV is just as good, regardless of whether I record a high def show or a low def show.
My biggest gripe is that I now have 300+ channels and Verizon doesn't publish a written guide that I can use to find the channels I want to watch, but I'm slowly learning where all my favorites are.

having an hd dvr is great. plus the sd channels look better on the big screen than they did with directv. i suspect the fibre connection allows more bandwidth than the satellite - not as many compression artifacts visible.
Carrollton, FIOS internet and phone. Love the internet. Have had zero outage since it was installed about 9 months ago. Very fast and no issues with it.
Eww.. that sounds no fun.. but it also sounds like more of an issue just with the box... And yet, thats' still better luck than we've had with my DirectTV DVR box we got a month ago. After about an hr of watching it it just freezes up and you have to reset it. Thankfully it's teh one in teh bedroom so we just hit reset andthen turn it on.. usually don't watch for >1hr anyway...
I have the Verizon Fios internet for over a year and never have any porblem. Actually I had more issuses when I had their DSL. Does Verizon give special deal when you get both Fios internet and TV? I am getting my TV via Direct TV which is fine but not great, but much better than the digital cable, which was a joke!
Yeah... If I hadn't spent 2 hours trying to get through the 800 # to report a problem with the box... I probably would have kept the service. But 2 hours of quality time watching the box choke on an HD channel convinced me there were better things to spend my $$$ on. If I reach a point where I really need cable again, FIOS TV is probably the best option. Hopefully they'll fix their call center issues by then.
Strange issues TC...
We've been on FIOS ever since they had it here in Lewisville. I was one of the first on our CO to subscribe. Hell, we even got the FIOS TV while it was still in beta. We've had a few hiccoughs with it in the first month while they worked the bugs out but it's been smooth ever since.
The speed is spectacular, the email service has a decent anti-spam filter, the TV has been rock solid, and support has been stellar.
We had a special 800# to call for support on the TV part since we were on the early beta. ;) We always got through to a live human very quickly.
The phone part has been great too - saving at least $50 a month on long distance with the flat rate pricing. We are spending $10 a more on internet per month but saving about 1/2 on the TV from what we were spending on Direct... Those jackasses raised our rates every 6 months like clockwork so we gave them the boot.
I haven't used the home page stuff on Verizon so I can't comment there. My business website is hosted by www.citymax.com and I don't have a personal website anymore.

Please understand that I FULLY understand that my problems stem almost entirely from Verizon's IVR system that REQUIRES customers to have a valid phone number associated with their account. Glad to hear it's working out for you. I'm sure Verizon was just rising to my expectations.
