Equivalent tire size for a 16" wheel - stock is 215-70... but so far it looks like selection stinks in that particular size. Should I go up or down on width or perhaps a shorter sidewall? Opinions?

You worn the tires off the 'ment already? Dayum, sparky!
The Michelin LTX in 215/70 will run for a LOOOOOONG time unless the 'ment has alignment issues. Unless you really don't like the price, you'll be hard pressed to find a better tire for commuting/highway.
Another vote for the Michelins got them on the 4Runner (cross terrains) don't even look like they have been anywhere 20,000 miles later! Plus nice and quiet great in the rain, and chicks dig them! ::Banana::
What kind of crap did Honda put on it OEM that you need new tires already????
Linky!
I was warned ahead of time that the 'E would go through cheap tires quickly... and the Goodyears are already showing shoulder wear. I'm gonna do a rotation soon but just looking ahead.
How about something like this -

+1 ... I have the Michelin LTX M/S on my truck. They have been GREAT tires!
Check this link and see how many miles have been logged on the Michelins!

I'm in a similar boat. The Goodyear Eagle LS in 235/65/18 that came on the Murano are just about shot after 27k miles. Discount lists 4 choices for me:
Goodyear Eagle LS $129
Yokohama YK520 $164
Michelin Cross Terrain SUV B $174
Michelin Cross Terrain SUV W $184
Ugh.
I got 27k miles out of the OEM Bridgestones on the CR-V. I bought a set of 215/65-16 Kumho Ecsta HP4s just a month ago to replace the OEM tires. I had a set of these on the Accord and liked them well enough - they're round, they're black, they're quiet, they work well in the rain, they last awhile, and they're cheap ($61/tire in this size).
I also like the fact that Kumho supports the kind of racing I do, so I'm partial to their tires.
One thing to remember - I was originally looking to get a +0 fitment for the CR-V... and then I remembered that I'd have to buy five tires if I did that. AWD cars don't like mismatched tire sizes, so I decided to stay with the OEM size instead of replacing the spare as well.
It's a truck.................who cares???????
It's the lunch box
