gauge needle question

To anyone who has put white face gauges in.

Have you painted the whole needle or just sanded the bottom paint off and painted the bottom like the OEM ones.

If you painted the whole thing how does it look at night and do you have pics.

I got the fluorescent red modle paint to color them with.

In my old 92 B&T I scraped and painted them with the translucent red model paint - the clear stuff you use for taillights.
