Does anyone know how to hook up the rear defroster for a hard top?
Yeah, you plug it in.
No, seriously... you do...
Driver's side behind the seatbelt tower you'll find a socket. You can get the plug from the stealership.

Your NB should have all the defroster stuff by default. Lots of great info here.
For NA owners, it is not as plug and play as the NBs. I have a '92 with a hardtop off of a '92, and i have the plug, but plugging it in does nothing. I need to add a Fuse Block, Defroster Relay, and Timer Relay that were not included on '92 cars that didn't have a hardtop from the factory.
Sorry, I wasn't more descriptive. I am posting this from my phone. I think I see where it needs to be plugged into; but I can't really get to it. Do I need to take the hard top off first to make sure its unplugged from the soft top, or should I be able to get it undone without removing the top? (I just bought the car and the hard top was on. But it wasn't plugged into the defroster.)
Well, I got to the plug that I thought was the right one. I had to use my contortionist skillz with my arm to get it unplugged. However the connectors are different. I guess I'm just going to have to take the top off.
Well, i took the hardtop off today. What I found is the connector I was looking at and got unplugged was the right one. I just don't have the right pigtail for it to work :-\ The pig tail I have has 3 connectors in a triangle formation. The one on my car also has 3 but its a flat connector. I guess I have to buy a different pigtail. Thanks for all the posts and info.
You guys are giving him wrong information anyway, he's asking about a deforster, not a defroster.Quote:
