I am hesitant to believe one part...
"Sessoms said the impact knocked the tractor-trailer about 70 feet."
...especially after seeing the picture.
I was just about to post the same thing.
It would take an enormous amount of energy to knock a tractor trailer 70 feet. Considering that there is hardly any visible damage to the rear of the trailer, nor are there any visible skidmarks leading to the trailer wheels, I'm going to call bullsh!t on this statement.
Looks lucky he didnt have a passenger.
Yep, looks like the passenger side & front of the car transferred the energy.
No way a Miata could move that rig 70 feet.
Yeah, I'd have to agree. Even if the rear of the truck was empty.
It states that the trailer had begun to move forward from the light when hit. Perhaps he had the clutch in while shifting and never hit the brakes. ::Shrug::
Anybody else think this guy was pulling some jackass passing maneuver when he lost it? I mean, he clipped the Camry and went sailing into the ass-end of a truck at high speed...
What an ::Bum:: ::Clown::
:rolleyes:
He should've been ticketed for reckless driving. Douchebag.
I'm with Titus, if his foot was on the throttle the truck could've lurched forward, but not 70 feet.
Poor car being owned by a reckless driver.
whew, talk about close! that would have been nasty.
