Newbie with aquestion...

Hi guys! I'm new here! I just wanted to know if there's a parts store in Dallas where I could get an OEM battery. I went to NAPA and they said they have a replacement NAPA brand. Anybody here uses them? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Autozone carries the Wesco battery under their house brand name for a reasonable price. That's as close to the OEM spec battery as you'll get without spending big bucks, and is what most folks here go with.

I personaly like a battery with some amps to it. I'd try to find a small battery that can pump out atleast 900 amps =D

They should go for the same price. I did find a 1200 amp battery to fit in the miata with the stock retainer but damn it was expensive $200 o_0

It's all well and good until it gets a little over-charged and vents explosive gases into your enclosed trunk...

If it's an AGM style battery it shouldn't be an issue, but an old lead acid style opens up a Pandora box of possibilities. Don't forget the neat rust that can form as the Lead Acid batteries tend to vent in an enclosed trunk, big fun! Spent a lot of time on my old '92 cleaning up all the surface rust, and missing paint from the lead acid battery that rode around in it before I bought it.

Another thing that can help is to put a slow charger (2amp) on the existing battery and charge it overnight, that's one way we have gone 5 years on the original battery in our '02. ;)

What battery do you have in it now?? If ya go the Auto-ZONE battery route I believe the p/n for a '92 is 8AMU1R.

The battery is a Westco. I'll be checking-out the local Dallas Autozone. Thanks for the info.
