havent had mine long enough...
im sure if rain doesnt get it, someones sprinkler will
rained in?? Mine's barely even been rained ON.
Since I've owned it it's seen a decent amount of rain twice. (sprinkles a few more)
but never with teh top down :)
It happend to me once, but I caught it and it barely got wet. I didnt learn my lesson and it happend again, where I had to take out the seats and all.
My old jeeps got rained on topless many times. My first jeep had vinyl seats and rubber floor mats, so no biggie. Miata has not seen topless rain yet, and hopefully won't with garage at home and covered parking at work. I do have a shop vac ready if it ever does though.
Yep, sprinklers have caught me more often than the rain. But I've been hit by rain, but not long enough to have a puddle in the car. Usually my top is up but the windows and rear window are down when I get hit.
I've been caught by brief showers while driving with the top down, but I've never been caught stationary with the top down during rain.
Of course, mine stays under cover both at school and at home, which helps.
The official count, and yes I have been keeping a record, is:
3 sprinklers
5 mornings with dew
2 light rains (only about a couple of minutes)
1 major shower while driving
2 minor showers while driving
I am very adept at removing the interior of a 97 Miata.
2 heavy showers in as many weeks. :(
Current Miata:
1 Brief One this morning
1 Soaking wet one 2 weeks ago
Previous Miata:
1 Tornadoe-esque level rain
Many Sprinkles
One Heavy Down Pour in the Trunk
First Miata:
Only Sprinkles
My current miata is my beater/track btch. Next OTM will be a nice/expensive car that I'll take care of a little more.
I've also found I'm not quite as anally clean with the current miata (haven't even washed it yet).

Mine hasn't been rained in since I've had it. The previous 10 years it likely has at some point. But it wasn't my fault.
i left my top down at the ranch once and got caught off guard by a nasty shower...but other than that just a whole lot of dew in the mornings.
I lived in WA state near Seattle for nearly 8 years. I had the Miata for the last 3 of them. If you ever had your top down in that area, then the answer is likely yes......
We recently moved back to TX. I just got out of the Navy and my wife and I both are from TX originally.
