wireless internet for the technically challanged

Ok so I got SBC DSL service, and I have a Netgear "G" router at home.

My issue is that the Netgear router likes to forget who it is, which leaves my portable without Internet access. The SBC router works great plug it in the computer and I got Internet.

I'd like to smash the Netgear with a dead blow hammer until I know it can no loner anger anyone else, and replace it with something that would be easy for a non tech like myself to install and never maintain! ;)

Any thing out on the market today that would work for me??

Did you set up an access list for MAC addresses?
Also did you set it up to broadcast your SSID?

I use a Microsoft branded wireless router that I have been running with my DSL for over 2 years without a problem, but I don't think they sell them anymore.

LInksys.... Never had a problem and I have been running various incarnations of their WAPs since the first 802.11b models.

Linksys WRT54G... not too expensive and works great... I've been using one on my ATT DSL for years...

The simplest one I set up was a belkin router. They have a lifetime guarentee and their tech support is very helpful. The easy setup disk will automatically setup the router and laptop to match(Except for the SSID code).

I have that model too, very easy to setup and configure. Haven't had any problems with it at all.

I've set up many wireless networks. Sometimes it can be a pain in the rear. If your used to one platform and your comfortable with that then I'd say go with it. If you want reliability I'd go with linksys or Netgear, I like those two the most; and I tend to lean a little more toward netgear personaly.

This is the last NetGear I've set up RangeMax Wireless Router (WPN824) It has been very reliable its been setup one time and never powered of or had to reset the system. (UPS powered). Setup time has been over 1 year.

if it's not wrt54g, it's crap...
