Is it just me or did R Compounds get a touch more expensive than the last time I ordered them.
Any of you CB find a better deal than TireRack recently??

It's not you.

Yep, they went up. :(
Yep. Had them check again when I purchased mine.
I think I'm going to try the Hankook Z214 for local and divisional stuff this summer. Partially because they are now a couple bucks cheaper than the Kumho and partially because they have a more desireable size for me.
I'm just interested to see how they perform. From what I'm hearing on SCCAforums.com, they have made some improvements since the GRM tire test last year. Hopefully they'll work out. Iain is very skeptical.
I've been pricing r compound tires to put on my volks for track days. I can't find them cheaper than $128 a piece new in a 225 45 15. I've been considering buying some used ra-1's or hoosier's.
Try these in 205/50/15:

The new Hoosier A6's have been phenomenal. I am eager to see how long they last.
Yes, and some data can be misleading. What is good for one car, may not be so good on another. Miatas compared to BMW's have different needs.
Doesn't matter. If it really was an overdog tire, you'd see the trend pretty quick. It was obvious when the A3S03 came out, and it was obvious when the V710 hit the ground.
I doubt that the Hankook will be so far off the pace that it'll compare to an RA-1... but I'd bet that once you've worn out the set you'll be back on Kumhos. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.
No, after the intial shock of price I was already thinking of Kumhos.
