Bad Crash at Legacy Town Center
We were in Legacy Town Center in Plano last night and nearly witnessed an awful crash. We were walking along and heard a half second of screeching tires followed by a VERY loud crash behind us. Turned around and saw a Jaguar XK8 with the front end completely missing/crumpled. It was a convertible, but both occupants were wearing seatbelts and they both looked extremely shaken but basically OK.
The other car didn't look so good. :( It was a last generation Eclipse coupe that had, apparently, turned left in front of the Jag. The Jag hit it square on the passenger side and hit it hard. Legacy has a 45 mph speed limit but people routinely drive it at 55-60. We didn't hear many squealing tires. I think the Jag slowed a little because, in retrospect, I think what we did hear was the ABS squealing then releasing then repeating that pattern.
Anyway, the passenger side of the Eclipse was caved in bad. The driver seemed basically OK, but her passenger was not. She looked catatonic and was bleeding from the neck where the seatbelt cut her. Once we realized she was badly hurt, we tried not to stare too much.
A cop ran over a minute later and EMTs were on the scene a minute or two after that. About 10 minutes later we saw the CareFlite helicopter land in the middle of Lagacy Drive. I hope that girl was OK, but I doubt it.:(
