Tax on ebay

I just bought some IRL tickets on ebay. The guy is charging me 8.25% sales tax. Is this legit? I dont remember paying sales tax from anything on ebay before.

If he's in Texas, yes.

Ok thanks guys. I took a look again and the auction mentioned the tax. No biggie its just a couple of bucks. I wanted to make sure the guy wasnt just skimming a couple of bucks.

If he's a business and in Texas, yes. I have to charge tax on items sold by my biz.

If he's not in Texas and charging Texas sales tax then you should report him to the State Comptroller's office. They'll make sure they get their money from him. ;)

Yep... sounds like a ticket broker to me, as his history shows all ticket transactions for events all over the country.
