I thought that it was out so i pulled the bulb and all is fine so what the Duce is going on I have to wait for it to dry upp before i get around to really testing out a few theories but it never hurts to get some information up front.

What year car?
I had two NAs that had the problem. Both of them had a break in the wire in the same place... right where the wire comes off the body of the car and onto the trunk hinge (and up the lid to the light)...
There is a lot of flex at that point and the wires break.
