Ever since I got my hood repainted I've been giving lots of leeway to the vehicle in front to avoid rock chips.
Driving to work last night I was behind a tractor trailer at about 60mph when all of a sudden a huge retread comes out from under him. With no escape route, I slowed as much as I could but it covered the entire lane and I hit it head on. It appeared to be folded over three times and looked to be at least 8 foot long.
Today the damage toll is front spoiler cracked, lots of paint damage on spoiler and bumper and a fog light is broken loose. ::Bean::
If I ran the NHTSA I would require all retreads to be serial numbered and traceable to the retread and the trucking companies. You lose a retread and you get fined. The amount of retread on these roads is ridiculous and a major safety hazard. ::Rant::
