As much as I hate Mustangs Ian's right, the new Stang dominated in the gt challange or whatever class I haven't kept up, and that is against equally prepared race cars.

Sorry, I might have come off a little too rough on the Mustang. I actually LIKE the car! I think the exterior styling is great (best updated "retro" look until the Challenger and Camaro come out), and the interior is not horrible. Oh, and I'm actually a fan of an American V8... love that growl!
I just look at what the Mustang could be with a little more "attention to suspension", and wish Ford would finally take the plunge into the modern era. Put independent suspension on it and cut a few pounds (OK, a few hundred), and this could be a really good car! As it is, it's still probably the best 4 seat (OK, 2+2 seat) convertible out there for the price.
IIRC the 92-97 Thunderbird could be had with a positrac IRS based on the Ford 8.8 center chunk. It doesn't seem that there would be that much R&D to put one in the Mustang. I've always wondered why they didn't. Of course they may think it would no longer be a retro Mustang, or suitable for drag racing?
BTW I think the Challenger stands to high off the ground and the track is too narrow, so there. It looks like they think we'll actually try to make Daisy Duke jumps with it.

Personally, I can't stand the Challenger's styling. The new model looks far too much like the 1970 model, right down to the little details like headlamps, grille shape, fog lights, and window line. I guess I find the whole thing lazy. The Mustang suffers from the same sort of design, but to a lesser degree.
However, I like the new Camaro. If you look at an orginal and a 2009 side by side there is a definite family resemblance, but the new car is definitely new. I appreciate how Chevrolet took a little risk in the design.
I can't believe people still buy these heaps.
The t bird irs mounts are not close to the stang mounts at all so you can't use it. You can pull them out of the new edge cobras however but while you do that you might as well pull the 4v motor. I have a soft spot for mustangs but I hate how they are no where near as good as they could be...one day maybe they will be...
