Just south of Emporia on the turnpike. It was the only time in my life where the cop just asked for my license (no proof of insurance or anything) then came back and had me sign the ticket. He turned around and left. No 3rd degree about where I was going or if I had anything in the car I shouldn't... it was revenue generation at its finest!
Wow. I got nailed for 85 in a 60 just north or Spring Creek on 75 this spring. He let me go with a warning.
Of course, I had a good story for him. Mom was just released from the hospital after a round of chest pains and wanted the kiddo for a 4 day weekend. The day I was to pick him up I was trying to call her and it would just ring off the hook... after hours of no answers I left and hauled ass towards Paris. He looked me in the eyes and said to slow it down so I could get there in one piece and he let me go.
Mom's phone got blown out in a storm the night before and she didn't know it. Whew. All that panic for nothing.
$300 will almost buy you one of these.

I scored a 21mph over in a construction zone (no cones or equipment on this side of the 8-lane highway) which will cost me $883.
