Is it time for a new tire thread?

I had Kumho ASX's on the MSM when I bought it. They did NOT like heat. They got evilly greasy when it was hitting ~100; bad enough that I had some snap oversteer at ~50% throttle (no boost) on surface streets. This was on a 205/45-16 Tire.

Running Kumho XS's now, 205/50-15. They actually are not that bad in the rain. I've been driving them daily sine I got them. They seem to grip better @ 100% tread depth than the ASX's did @ 60% (in the wet). Not bad given that they are a dedicated summer tire.

Free Italian immigrant with purchase of four Nitto tires?

Anyone have any thoughts/experiences on the Falken FK-452's? I won the tire drawing at ER for Falken, so trying to decide what to get with them. I've switched to Kumho XS's for my autox wheels, but I'll need some new DD tires on my 17x7.5 street wheels in the next few months.

I ordered these on Thursday. Seemed like a great price on a tire with good reviews from here. I think they will be perfect for a DD and perform well enough for Trina at Hallett next year.

I have BF Goodrich Traction T/A tires and have been very happy w/them. When I bought them I did extensive research and found stellar reviews, especially for rainy weather and by Miata owners.

Due to a part failure that threw my Miata out of alignment, the tread was ruined on my front tires + I must buy 2 new tires. The Traction T/A tires were discontinued in Oct. 2008 and the replacement is the BF Goodrich g-force Supersport A/S. In searching for tire reviews, it shows that tire lacking in wet handling.

Can anyone suggest another tire that rates particularly well with wet weather? The problem seems to be that currently tires are being made only for larger rim sizes (even Miatas have larger rims now), so selection is limited in 14-inch.

The best I have found on paper in doing research is the Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position. They're a bit pricey, but might be worth it safety-wise. Anyone have any experience with these tires?…Can suggest anything better, with rainy weather being a top concern?

There's no need for sarcasm.…Rainy weather is a top priority to me! Maybe you've never been close to a bad accident in the rain; I had until I got my Traction T/A tires. This area gets plenty of overflow from flash floods.

Different people have different needs. ::Shocked: I thought this forum was supposed to be welcoming towards new members.

Secondly, if you don't drive like an idiot in the rain you will be OK. Severe hydroplaning= idiot. Have you lived in DFW all your life? If you have, you know we don't get that much rain. If you haven't, we don't get that much rain.

Nope... fundamental rule on this forum... Once you get past page 1, the chance of useful info is near zero.

OTOH... most UHP summer tires provide OUTSTANDING wet performance -IF the temperature > 70 degrees. Do you want wet - slick road capability in the winter months? Or are you asking about summer time water? The Falken 512/912 are a pretty good balance if you need the slick season traction but still want good (but not great) grip in the warm season. Most (possibly all) UHP summer tires become useless when the temps are below 45 AND it's damp.
