I'll sign up shortly JJ. I just need to figure out what I'm driving.
Just registered.
Still debating...
Do it
Don't be skeerd of the big bad Mazdas, Joe. I'll bring Rusty so noone talks smack.
Not yet, but parts come in today (26. Jan). So it'll be ready, lol. Part of me wants to do my first run without it just to see how loud it really is.
You should run that supertrapp with 3 or 4 discs installed. With more than that a supertrapp doesn't muffle the sound at all. I don't think they are writing down or announcing sound readings. If you are over 100 they will tell you it was over 100. If you are over 95 but under 100 you will be given a warning. You won't find out "how loud it really is". You will just piss off a bunch of people and help drive the last nail in the coffin at Pennington.
Just wanted to make sure everyone is aware of the status with Pennington Field.
NATXS & ER have events scheduled at Penn. Field the months just before the HEB School Board votes on continued use of the site by autocross groups. How these events are conducted & the actions of the competitors will more than likely be conveyed to the school board. The school board will be voting on this issue at their March meeting. It’s very likely that the bordering neighborhoods comments will affect the outcome of the school board’s vote.
Management of the site was told not to schedule events past the end of February. This is why SCCA had to schedule our Solo school & first event at LoneStarPark (March 5/6).
Issues such as trash left after an event, site condition, event safety/liability, competitors speeding on the neighboring streets, and sound levels have all been brought up to the site management. Please keep these issues in mind when you attend these first couple events at Pennington Field this year! Help the event organizers by self policing these issues.
Sites for our sport are becoming harder to get/retain & more expensive to rent!
I know nobody wants to see the DFW autocross community loose Pennington Field!
So the official limit is 100 db but preferred to be 95 or less right?
I was joking, but yeah if I think i'll be too loud i'll likely sit out.
If not sitting out i'll just pretend I never got a motor swap and shift before the second cam engages, it's really only loud over 6000 rpms.
I bet we can disconnect the solenoid too. Get with me before the event and we can do that for the backup plan.
co-drive found.
