Friend at work has the 4-door sedan version (Gen 2), and I'm quite impressed with that car overall. I'm a die-hard Honda fanboy, but I would walk right past the Civic and into the Mazda 3. I would assume the MS3 just adds to the fun factor.

+1, my M3 was black, never again. Well I bought my 93LE Miata after that which was black but I rarely washed it or cared what it looked like ;)
Might suggest the Mazdaspeed 6 also. AWD (sort of) instead of FWD, more grown up looks and very fun to drive. The Mazda dealer loaned me one for a few hours when they were detailing my RX-8 during the predelivery process.
Ask JFo about the MS6...
Samm- point taken.
If I can only have one car, MS3 would be one of the top choices for me.
I test drove one before I bought my Kizashi GTS. The MS3 handles and rides well, but I feel it has a bit too much power for the front wheels even with the diff. Compares to the GTI, you give up interior quality and refinement for power and handling. Since I have the miata, I much prefer the GTI over the MS3.
If you don't mind a off brand and the sedan shape, I highly recommend you at least go check out the Suzuki Kizashi. It's one of the best kept secret out there IMHO.
That of course means you have to find a dealership and go through the bad sale reps...:punchout:
Just my 0.02

Read about the "Revo Knuckle" the other day that reduces torque steer. Read that it was planned for the '12 Focus RS, the Euro sibling of the MS3. At the time there was no info on whether it would be on the '12 MS3. The was some speculation of a retro fit for current MS3s. I haven't checked lately. The ECU reduces the HP to 150 in 1st & 2nd gears when the steering is more than 3 degrees off center.
^Interesting....the new Focus is not bad looking either.

I *really* like the look of the new fuckus... the RS is intriguing, but I'm betting it's priced at $30k. Considering the "Platinum" Focus's are $28k...
Yuck. Must be that pic or color/trim, as I have seen some cool Foci, but thet one is not doing it for me. Kill it with fire plz.
Mmmmm, like a roided-out Yaris, but with awesome instead of suck.
'12 US Focus, Mazda 3, Volvo C30 S40 V50 are all the Ford/Volvo/Mazda C1 platform. Europe has had the C1 Focus for a while. The C30's also have a turbo, but don't have the HP of the MS3 because of lower boost. I don't know if a turbo Focus is offered here yet, it is in Europe. I did read there will be a Turbo Fiesta available here.
