In this instance, the TCB club is not for me. Hats off to you and your search for the free battery.

Junkyards are fun .. Sometimes it's worth the challenge to find something used or cheap and make it work. Never would want to skimp on safety stuff , but if its a newer battery and holds a charge , $30 seems like a good deal to me ! Probably will find some other neat stuff there while looking around too ... If not , you can still by a new one
BTW.. I'd be a bit ashamed of myself to let some parts store guy "install" my battery.
Good luck with the hunt
I'll come get the truck from you.
Problem solved!
Since both my cars get short trip duty cycle most of the time (4 mile commute for mine, stop and go running errands for the wifey), I can barely make a brand new battery last 2-3 years. I cant imagine how quickly I could kill a $30 junkyard battery.
Personally, I'd spend the extra to get a brand new warranteed battery. That's what I did for both my cars, and they've both gotten free replacements in the last 18 months.
$40.88 after taxes out the door with a full 1-year replacement warranty!! TCB FTW!!
Yes!
Installed?
Installed that bad boy myself! ::pimp::
Local Junkyards had had a run on Batteries due to the cold snap, one of the junkyard guys told me to Try Pro Battery in Fort Worth.
So here is a shameless plug for the TCB approved local source just in case others don't feel the need to pay $100+ for a battery for their OTM. ;-)

They also sell new batteries. For my Ranger it was $75.00 with a 2 year warranty or Reconditioned like I got for $37.99 with a 1 year warranty before taxes.
But did you use the 10% off coupon on their website?? :D
Did you figure sales tax and gas to go get it into the equation?
Sweetness! I assume you already inquired about Miata-friendly agm batteries?
Yep sales tax was $2.89 and the place was 1.1 miles (Per Google Maps) from where my wife works so 2.2 miles round trip were added to my already scheduled trip since I was picking her up from work last night as I normally do.
And yes they gave me the 10% off. ::pimp::
Heh, I am not a hater. I just wondered if you got the discount since you did not mention it.
*Update
Well my TCB Battery gave up the ghost it only lasted 3 years, 5 months, 2 weeks, 2 days aka 1263 days... I blame this partially on the recent Alternator failure and ensuing stranding. You would think the OEM Alternator wold last more than 22 years it only had 174,000 miles on it. Sheesh......
Went back to Pro Battery and stuck another reconditioned battery in the Ranger.
^ they don't make em like they used to.........
