OK, got a little more info on the car or actually more about the owner. The owner is a friend of one of my coworkers. If I remember correctly, he's a spec miata guy and an instructor at motorsport ranch. A real car guy.Quote:

i went and took a look at the 99 FMII. it looked pretty good. i went for a ride in it, the engine sounded fine, and pulled like CRAZY!!!:burnrubr: after we got back to his house he asked if i wanted to drive it, it didnt take long to make up my mind. the transmission definatly feels like it has issues. in not sure what it is, but it doesnt shift right. it shifter is chopped, but i doubt that has much to do with the problem. it is VERY vague, instead of shifting into gear it felt more like it fell into the gear that you aimed it to. it was loose and floppy very un-miata-like. it ground twice trying to put it into 5th with the clutch to the floor. (synchros?) ahhhh- the clutch. the clutch is rediculously heavy. i mean wayyyyy heavy. its up there with a 400 hp FD that i drove once with an aftermarket clutch on it.
i liked the car, all that the power was a blast, but that tranny has probs. its not worth $12,000 like that.
