Best tank was 33 on a hiway trip with hard top on, averaging 75-80..
Cold air intake with upgraded exhaust, including JR hi-flow cat helps...
I'm happy with 25mpg when driving like an idiot.
I probably would have an RX8 by now if they didn't suck gas so bad. I figure I'd get 15 in that from what I've read if I drive like I want to.
So, since I bought the S2000, I've been averaging right around 23 mpg, with 95% city driving, top up, a/c on almost all the time. By comparison, the RX-8 was getting 14-15 mpg on the same commute. Good riddance.
Your RX-8 got lower than normal gas mileage IMO. Mine was about 17-18 MPG 80% city 20% highway driving which still sucks for the hp you get. My S2000 got about 23-24 doing 95% highway. The RX-8 (stock for stock) was quieter, had a slightly bigger trunk and could seat 2 more people though.
My 335 is getting right at 21 MPG about 50/50 driving but it has close to 400 hp so that's not too bad.

it's easy enough to get over 30mpg out of a miata. the secrete is to sloooow down 5 miles an hour. these guys get crap mileage at 70-75. at 65-70 i get pretty decent mileage, and i add a hole 5 minutes to my morning 75 mile commute. almost all of my driving is interstate so that helps too. but these cars have a crappy drag coefficient and 4.33 gears, so speed is VERY detrimental to fuel economy.
on the occasion i actually get to run the back roads or we're using project miata as a camera car i get crap mileage. ~200 miles to a tank.
I always thought the Miata had a good drag coefficient. Dunno I just drive it and enjoy it :)Quote:
but these cars have a crappy drag coefficient
I haven't had to fill my tank since before the Superbowl.
n/a miata's are rocking a .38 drag coefficient. the new f-150 is around .302, a c6 vette and the chevy volt are .28 where as the evOne is as slick as greased owl shit with a .17.
the average Cd or drag coefficient for automobiles currently in production is between .30 and .35. so it's safe to say the miata as the aerodynamics of a brick... turned sideways.
LOL sounds like a motorcycle :P
Ok I'll play your game.
