I wanted to make it but looks like Mom is in town this weekend.
I just did this on my car. Take the door panel off. Raise the window to the top then reach in and use your finger to get the old crusty grease out of the tracks. Add a little bit of new silicon grease to the track. Roll the window down and up again. Keep adding a little grease at a time to both tracks in each window. You should notice a sudden increase in speed.Quote:

The differences are the regulator and the cables... the rest is all the same.
You could have sticky nasty grease in there (most likely cause) or a cracked/flat guide on the window... or rusted up cables... Heck... if you have power windows, it could be the contacts inside the switch.

If they are electric, the switch itself could be the problem. There's a write-up on the pointy board about cleaning the switch contacts.Quote:

Thanks for the discussion and they are electric. Suppose that would have been a good thing to mention.
I figure I'll both clean the switch and take a look behind the door panel. I bet it's a little of both.
So I'll get some silicone grease at Autozone.
Appreicate the help.
Regarding the tech day in McKinney...is it still at 10am? It sounds like only a few cars will be getting wrenched on that day, so I will probably leave my tools at home. Instead, I will bring my camera and my thinking cap in an effort to learn tricks to changing the timing belt...which is my Thanksgiving present to myself I think.
If the Root can make it from Mansfield, nobody else can bitch about the distance. Way to go Root. :drive:Quote:

So tell me.....How did the Tech Day go?
I had to work....What did I miss? Any Pictures?
yeah, how was the turnout?
Well,
Here's the skinny.
Only one car worked on. Juxt3r's timing belt.
The following folks were in attendence:
Tailchaser
3Bean
Dave04
Rootdown_53
juxt3r
The good news.
We got everything installed and the car started and ran smoothly the first time.
The bad news. ::Censor::
juxt3r used the thermostat gasket on the side of the waterpump which we didn't realize until he went to put the thermostat in. ::Censor:: ::Censor:: ::Censor::
Not surprisingly, it leaks. Not bad but it needs to be fixed.
In his defense, they are very similar. Wish I wasn't b.s.ing when he installed the pump. Ah... well.
So.... he is coming over today to repeat the process. I have other commitments but will give him access to my garage. I'm sure he could use some help if anyone wants to swing by! I'll be back in the afternoon to help him finish up. He'll be here by 9am.
hey kool, maybe i can swing by today, depending on how my day turns out, i still haven't slept but hey, i'm too young to spend my time sleeping...
He's on his way over.
We may have dodged a bullet.
Last night the area was meerly wet and never leaked on the floor. In retrospect, we never smelled coolant either and the car ran for 20-30 minutes.
This morning the area is dry and no coolant leaked overnight. We will keep you posted on this! Hoping... hoping... hoping!
