Being a recovering road rager it's hard to say what I would have done.
but my stuff was always from people provoking me. I never went after someone for no reason like these guys came after you.

I think you probably did the right thing, they were obviously riding in a piece of crap and didnt care about what you did to it, and were really wanting you to pull over for a 4 on 1 fight, the jelly is classic! too bad it wasnt gorilla glue...haha

Back in January, I was running my oklahoma delivery route for my friend. I was just south of OKC city on I-35. Construction necessitated that the far left lane merge into the middle lane. I was 2 miles from the merge. There was a dump truck semi in front of me. As he moved into the middle lane, I continued in the left lane. I got even with his front axle on his trailer, when he looked into his sideview mirror at me and swirved back into my lane. I locked the brakes up, the ABS kicked in and I swirved into the shoulder. I was INCHES from the concrete barrier. I was back behind him and began to move to the middle lane. He did it again, except this time he swerved into the middle lane. At this point I backed way off, as I didn't know what he was going to do next, nor did i know why he was trying to inflict damage upon me/my friends van. I got up the road past the merge and was side by side with him. When I looked over at him, he had a huge grin. When I took my exit, I couldn't keep my hands still from the adrenaline rush and the high blood pressure from my anger.
If I would have had a gun, (God forbid) he wouldn't have had any tires left.

I had a road rage problem in my RX-7 one time. This guy runs straight through the intersection in a right turn only lane, and nearly sideswipes me as I'm legitimately changing lanes from middle to right AFTER the intersection. Anyhow, he was PISSED and started yelling at me so loud that I could hear him yakking through my rolled up passenger window. I laughed at him and gave him the finger (lapse in judgment), whereupon his eyes LIT UP in a whole new level of pissitude. He got so pissed off at me that he proceeded to chunk his newly opened Miller High Life tall boy at my car, hitting just behind the passenger window and spraying beer all over the place. Realizing what he had just done, he took off. I dropped in behind him just long enough to get his tag number as I dialed 911... I hung back and kept an eye on him until I could talk to a live person...

911: 9-1-1, what is your emergency?
ME: Yes, I'd like to report a drunk driver.
911: What makes you think he's drunk?
ME: Well, he just threw his beer at me and hit the side of my car.
911: Oh. I see. Um, where are you located? Let me see if I have a unit in the area...

Not sure what happened to him, but I'll bet his day didn't end as well as mine.

I've had road rage once or twice in the Miata but usually fall back or out run them. I did have one crazy dude try to follow me home but I skipped my street and drove around till I lost him.

This is why I try to keep the locations of all the local Police stations in mind. I have had that happen a couple times. Nothing malevolent mind you, just coincidences where people happen to live near me. Enough though to have me thinking if I should drive around and start heading in the direction of the Police station. If they follow me there, I can get out. In theory they shouldn't try anything in a PD parking lot.

I live just across 15th Street from Plano PD.

I had something simular to this happemn when I was in college and had a CRX. Couple drunk rednecks were pissed cause I was driving the speedlimit in a construction zone and they could not pass. Right after the construction they wipped around me and started throwing empty cans (luckily no bottles). I was easily able to dodge them.

I bet they would not have done that if I was in the RAM I have now. They tend to pick on the smaller cars.
