Plano Pkway & Beltline Brown Piloti shoes with lower heel rise than the others.
2 10.5's 2 12's and a 9
Whats the big deal with these shoes......
I bet all the non-autocrossers in here don't even know what Pilotis are. But $20 to jump on any bandwagon is a cheap price of admission. I now have 3 pairs and they're great for walking and looking like a nerd at the mall. People sometimes ask if they are rock climbing shoes.
Why is everyone so excited about shoes? Oh, that's right this is a "Miata" forum. ::Fruity::::Fruity::::Fruity::
Just kidding.
I wonder if any stores in Houston have them.
My vans slip-ons work great as driving shoes and they can be found for $20 all day.
Still lost.... why are these so popular... explanation?
I love to drive in my Birkenstocks......
I sure hope you clowns call each other before the next big get-together to avoid looking like the Piloti brigade...
One down here by the Parks mall has them in several sizes, but only one below 10.5(unless you need 6.5, wtf). It was my size, 9.5, G16 in a very ugly turquoise color ; (.
Great. Now that all the common people have them I will need to find some new shoes.
I looked at them today. I still prefer my Pumas with their much thinner sole.
The next AutoX or track event will be interesting with all you ::Paul:: in matching shoes. How "cute". ::Fruity::
I picked mine up at the Puma Oulet a few years ago for about $30.

Ugh look what I started.
I dunno, I buy them for what they are, not for the fashion/trendy statement they make. If they work and are cheap, I wouldn't care if you had 10 of the same pair.
These are great for driving and they are lined with Nomex so when you crash and burn, the track crews can identify you by your hangnails and bunions. ::Bleh::
BTW, I stopped by a couple of Ross stores in Houston on the way home and picked up a couple of pairs in my size. Both stores had at least half a dozen pairs each, mostly in Shaq and Tinkerbell sizes.
still lost.... So you all want matching shoes because they are in a 70's rally-cross video....
I'm still wearing my birkenstocks..... or my hush puppies if I'm in work attire.....
Not at a track event you won't be. You'll never get past tech.
The point being a narrow full leather shoe is better for working the peddles during performance driving. The problem I have with the Pilotis is the thick sole which will not provide as good a "feel" as the thin soles of most "racing" shoes and the Pumas I have.
Still a great price and if I found a pair in a color I liked, I'd pick up a pair for bumming around.
^^^ man I thought I was the only night owl on here. To elaborate for sxk122 I don't think these are absolutely the driving shoes to have but that they are designed for driving so they are thin and light and work better than what people were using before for only $20. I still like my vans though and I think they work great as driving shoes, I got them as soon as I got my car because I needed something quick to put on and flip flops are no good for manuals.
Our best hope for redeeming a thread about discounted shoes on a Miata forum:
Ah, the halcyon days of Grüppe B... when drivers were drivers and fans were guardrails.Quote:

Grandpa?
And Michele Mouton...
Though I suppose she's old enough to be grandma to most of you guys. ::hal::
Wittyfull: The Frisco store had red size 9.5 yesterday. Preston north of 121.
Has anyone seen blue or black in a 10? The Denton store only had an off-white pair in my size.
I was wondering the same thing...I'll be wearing these, the sole is thin and they are all leather. I'd rather drive barefoot.
