It's a '99. Nice ride too...
If it has over 80K miles, it's not covered any longer. The owner would also have to take it to a Mazda dealer to get Mazda to warranty the cat.Quote:

SAMMM,
Were you able to get a copy of the 'warranty report' from the dealer?
Any new info there?
Also, when cleaning that manifold, its the small holes that are the dirtiest- and the hardest to clean.
I forgot all about that! I'll call them this morning and see if I can get a copy.Quote:

Ton's of hits on the :batman: board. I'm going to try pulling the intake off again and re-check/re-clean the EGR port (especially the small port that's on the inside of the intake). I read where a few people recommended using a zip tie to help clean out that port since it has a few twists & turns in it.
You can run down to Michael's or other such craft store and pick up a ton of oversized, extra-long wire pipe cleaners.
FYI- you are not going to get a code that says, "Hey! you gotta a bad coil pack." It will cause other problems and throw those codes. Other codes like P0402-Excessive EGR flow, and its friend P0420- 'ecessive flow EGR.'Quote:

I didn't clean the intake manifold until a year after it was fixed- even tho those were the codes I was getting during my problems. I didn't get a code when I cleaned it. I just wanted it clean.
It's just a matter of time....
SAMMM, What's the latest word on your CEL? On...Off....still re-occuring?
You trying to jinx me or what? Last weekend I re-cleaned the intake and the infamous EGR port (a piece of weed-eater line works great BTW) while going thru a few cans of throttle-body cleaner.
Disconnected the battery before I started and reconnected after I finished. I've put around 150 miles on the car since, and so far so good. No CEL at this point! 8) I did run the continuity check on the EGR valve itself and it was fine.
In your opinion, if the EGR check was OK, how does that jive with 'excessive EGR flow'? Any thoughts?Quote:
