Anyone wanna slap a "road-course virgin" around the course?
I'll give you a ride if you want.
I'll go register! Thanks Matt.
I don't know how they run this event but usually only experienced (advanced at that) people can have a passenger...
Last time I went (2 years ago), I had an instructor for 2 times out then after that I was allowed to have a passenger.
I guess The Drivers Edge just does it differently then. Good to know, thanks Matt.
I wouldn't count on being able to have passengers if you're solo approved. If you invite friends tell them you probably won't be able to give them rides but instructors can if available.
Ah, well I'm a novice but I have no problem giving you a ride LOL.
Who knows, it might have changed since then.
IMHO, it is never a good idea for students to have non-instructor passengers on the track with them. I've seen too many instances where this has led to incidents. Most organizations do not allow this, and I would strongly encourage you to ride with an instructor instead.
+1
I'm still waiting for a reply :( Be a lot easier if they had a link to register to and go from there.
Did you call?
Called and left message yesterday as well... If I can get time today, I will call again.
*** Edit *** Just left another message. That's all I am going to do.
Update... Got a call from Maggie and I'm on the list. 'Till then... :)
Did you guys pay over the phone or are we paying in person?
Cash in person. No credit card. Bring a toy (nice one) and canned good too.
Cool, gotta get registered then. I wonder if I can call today.
Just got signed up as #60, WOW!
What amount should I spend on the (nice toy)?
I'd say 15-20. More if you can afford it easily. You're getting track time 100 dollars off the normal rate.
Matt V: Make sure your brakes are done before you go. ECR is tough on brakes.
I'll be getting them done before the track day for sure.
Okay thanks Nails! That's what I was figuring for, and yes ECR is very hard on brakes..no joke about that!
Maggie at ECR posted on Facebook that 80 cars are signed up.
faxed in my info
Good God, 80 cars? I'm kind of worried now.
I liked how I had my own amount of space on the track last time. To give you an idea:

Yep, that was my slow Civic.
Just bought my helmet.

Matt - you may want to follow up with the vendor on that helmet - the site info says it's DOT approved but there's no mention of Snell SA or M ratings and I couldn't Google it definitively in 10 links.
A helmet with an SA rating is preferred for road courses and is required by some organizations, but for most everything the helmet needs to carry a Snell SA or M cert.
If there is anything I'd hesitant to buy online it would be the brain bucket - getting the fit right is very important to making sure it works as intended, and if it's not comfortable, it can absolutely ruin a weekend.
There are a few vendors around that stock SA rated helmets that you can try on before you buy. On the plus side, the SA2010 helmets were just released so the SA2005's are on closeout. There are some sweet deals to be had as many vendors will flip them for cost so they don't get stuck with an unsellable item in inventory.
Chris
A quick search seems to indicate that the CS-R1 is Snell M2005 rated. I'd confirm that with the vendor, however. You need a minimum of M2000.
As for the number of cars, don't worry. There should be at least 4 run groups, which is 20-25 cars per group. On a 2.5 mile track, there is plenty of room for 20-25 cars.
Also, everyone try to remember - this is NOT a full HPDE at a bargain basement price. This is more of a "come and check out the track, get some laps, and do something good for charity" event. Keep that first and foremost and I'm sure we'll all have a good time.
I'm using this event as a scouting trip. I've never been to ECR and the majority of miata people I've talked to don't seem to care for it because of the long straights. I can't wait to get out there and check it out in person.
On a side note, I've never been to TWS either. That seems to be a favorite amongst HPDE people...
The info is good to know, Maggie informed me that all they require are DOT approved helmets so at the worst, Ill wear it this one day and sell it afterwards.
I just called Helmet City and explained the situation. The girl on the phone exchanged it for the HJC CL-15 at the same price! It's an M2005 helmet, so I'm pretty happy now. :)
I signed up so I guess I better fix my car :-/
New front hubs, rotors and pads installed. Good to go.
How many cars are signed up now? Or did they not tell you?
lose the gloves, ask mr brg why.Quote:
