I'm in. I'll be at Einsteins too.
Any tips on keeping my 1.6 smoking to a minimum, I believe it's getting worse. Oh well, one last race before it get a new 1.6, 1.8, or LS1...

I vote LS1
Wow! 53 registered and we have a limit of 60, so register now if you plan to go.
Call me #57.
Su & Stan Whitney in an '06 Miata? A new STR car, perhaps?
Not much difference from the BEAST they used to drive... ask Neff
I knew we should have come up with aliases and disguises for the event; it would just take the first event for our secret to get out...
Parts should start arriving soon, but for now just hoping to get a feel for it before the season is completely over...
See you all Sunday... we will be the ones in a Miata... ;)
Welcome Su! It probably won't take Stan long before he wants to turn it into another DP car.
Current forecast for Sunday... low in the 50s, high in the 70s, partly cloudy with a 20% chance of rain all day.

Cool, 10 S2K's, 23 Miatas...
North Texas Miatacross Series???
Random question from the noob... other than numbers, are we supposed to have anything else posted on the car? I've seen pictures of some SCCA cars with all sorts of class info on there.
I was planning to use blue masking tape, and make my numbers ~12" high.
There might be some people from the HEB ISD school board (which owns the site) visiting our event this weekend, so we ask that everyone please be careful with your actions. Do not forget to mind your speed when entering and exiting the site. Even if you have pulled off of the site and on to the road, exhibition of speed would still be attributed to our event. The same would apply to arrival at the site.
It looks like we will have an excellent turn out with a nice variety of cars. It should be a really fun event.
At least i'll have a first gen MR2 to help toyota's presence in the miata flood... Why dosen't toyota make anything worth buying anymore :(
Tentative Run/Work Order:
Run 1/3, Work 2/4: 2, S2K
Run 2/4, Work 1/3: 1, 1R, 2R, 3, 3R
It was a fun event. Thanks to everyone that came out and those that helped us throughout the season. Big thanks to everyone that chipped in on troubleshooting the generator this morning!
Great Day, Fun course. Thanks, all.
The "rookie girl" in the Mini ClubmanS had a great time out there today... everyone very helpful and nice!
Looking for my driver's side mat, which was next to my car in the parking lot. Couldn't find it at end of afternoon ... black and has the MINI logo on it ...made of heavy rubber & would have been hard to miss it blow across parking lot. Damn windy out there! Anybody see it or picked it up .. please holler!! THANKS
Great day, bad day to be a timing light though

Probably our best turn out of the year, and a fun and challenging course as well!
Thanks for the fun day everyone. Long, but fun.

Can you spot the ripple colored defector?

Awesome day. A couple lessons learned:
- Things look very very different from the drivers seat at 45 mph than they do on the walk with a coffee cup in hand.
- A stock Mazda 3 suspension is REALLY soft!
- It's better to let other people wipe out the timing gear.
- Cool looking numbers doesn't necessarily make a car competitive.
- Standing around in a parking lot all day CAN be a lot of fun!
Thanks to the organizers, thanks to all the people handing out tips, thanks to Cyril and Gabby for taking a couple laps with me. I'll definitely be up for some more instruction next time around.
Both Christina and I both had a great time. I've uploaded the picture to my photobuck account. Follow this link: http://s301.photobucket.com/albums/n...%2011-21-2010/
Also here are a few for you viewing pleasure. If you want a full resolution of your car, let me know and I'lll email it to you free!

So when I was driving home last night, I had a random thought. How awesome would it be to have an 'official' photographer or videographer at an aerial vantage point. So I took a quick look this morning and found this:
http://www.sunbeltrentals.com/equipm...008&catid=1209
20' scissor-lift, 3'x8' platform, $120/day rental. I'd pay an extra few bucks at registration for video of my runs. Combine in-car video with aerial video (this weekend, Corner 1 would have been a good spot) and you can really tell where you're screwing up.
I'd imagine there'd be some safety/insurance issues to iron out, but does anyone else see any value in it?
