Well whatever it was is better, heh.
I thought I would report in after 1 year and approx. 16, 000 miles using the Pennzoil Synchromesh. ABSOLUTELY NO GEAR GRINDING in a year. I was told a year ago that I probably needed a new tranny. Pennzoil Synchromesh FTW!!!!!!!!
BIG THANKS to SirHustlerEqs and POS Racing for their posts on this thread!!
I currently have a case of Amsoil MTG for the trans and SVG for the diff. $13 a quart if anybody needs some.
I've noticed an issue. On the track towards the end of the day when the car is nice and hot, I've had issues shifting to 4th. No grinding. It just won't budge into 4th gear. No issues when driving on the street or during the first few sessions on the track.
2 MTG
2 SVG (One is for gabkwong)
I keep expecting Trey to join the thread and update his recommendations...

I am about to make the switch to Synchromesh in my NC Beowulf and assume I have the correct stuff as it is NOT synthetic.
I've never heard anyone using synchromesh in the NC tranny. Not that it might not work, but the Motorcraft synthetic is the established first-choice for the NC 6mt.
I've been happy with the Amsoil MTG. Shifting is comparable to the Motocraft Unicorn Tears, but the Amsoil is a LOT cheaper.
Motorcraft is $17/qt, available at any ford dealer, and you only need 2 for an NC. It lasts 100k miles unless you track it. How is that expensive?
When I bought my Motocraft stuff, it was $20 at the Ford house. I'd say a savings of $14 is a decent night at Keller's...
OK, I am officially confused now.
I thought I picked this thread up starting with a NC but now don't see that when I re-read it.
I bought three quarts of the Synchromesh.
Should I use it in my NC or not?
If not, I will look for the Amsoil and have three for sale as I don't have the receipt any more.
Ill buy the synchro off you, I can use it in my pickup. I'm sure amsoil has something, but the motorcraft is tried and true. I put three autocross seasons on it with great results.
