Um, have you priced the infield course? Even SCCA has opted not to do their annual autox there anymore.

TMS will allow us to run the parking lot on the infield.
The first AutoX event I attended was a PCA event at Ranger's Stadium. There was more than enough room and IIRC it was concrete.
Is that still rentable?
I think the last I heard those sites were 12 times more expensive than mineral wells. To pay for that we either need 12 times as many entrants or raise entry fees to around $500. Both are not likely to happen.
It is a public road race. We will make a loop from GWB turnpike onto Trinity Mills then up Marsh and back to GWB. Trophies at your house when we are finished.
I'm sure the local law enforcement will chip in with performance awards too.
Andy, you have done a great job getting new sites. I am not a big fan of the Mesquite sites we have better options at the moment. I would not mind having one event a year at the Mesquite sites just to keep our feet in the door just in case we lose some or all of the other sites. Hope that never happens but you never know. Keep up the good work. Can’t wait to see the new site if that works out.
The open road event sounds like a hoot, can't wait;)
Dallas Raceway isn't out of the picture yet. I've spoken with the management at the site and there might be some good news soon.
Why is that a problem? I have been to many events and other sites where this is the norm.
Mike, I agree that everyone has their own opinions and views on the different sites. But the Mesquite lots are just too small, gravely and dangerous for anything but an STR miata:cat:
In all seriousness, it is nice to have lot owners who are excited about us attending. But just because the ugly girl gets excited about the possibility of a date with you, doesn't mean you should actually take her out.
Like Robert said, we have better options for now. Hopefully it never comes down to Mesquite being the ONLY option, otherwise I will be making some long drives to other regions for events.
I can definately understand your concerns for safety, especially since you have appeared on the insurance exclusion list.

Man, tough crowd. A guy careens down a mountain ONCE and never hears the end of it.
He's a good sport about it. I'm sure if it started to get on his nerves he would let us know.
Looks like good news (the following was posted on Facebook)

Dallas Raceway
I don't know the details, but I see Jan and Allie posting that Ken has called Molly and they have the track.
As soon as I know more details, I will post them, I will be updating DallasRaceway.com with next weekends events and as always posting that to Facebook.
I know we have to get the timing computer fixed, so that we have proper times on the track. I would guess that Ken will be working with IHRA to see if we can get the Divisional back on Track and he will be talking with the XDRL about reversing their decision as well.
I can assure you that if Jan and Allie are posting that this is not a hoax and Dallas Raceway is very much alive and shall be now for a long while. Woo Hoo.
More stuff on the Facebook.

GREAT News this week.
What a way to start a week, after the week we had last week, Dallas Raceway is alive and should have a long life. Ken and Molly will continue to be a fixture in Crandall, TX with Dallas Raceway. After all the rumors last week, and folks jumping the gun, Dallas Raceway no longer has bank issues with the previous owner. We are proud to say, we are here to stay. Thank all of you that stood beside us and prayed for us, we certainly appreciate it.
Now that we have the good news, the not so good news, we are still having computer issues on the timing equipment and we are working to get that fixed. We hope to have it fixed this week. As soon as we know it is fixed then we will post what is happening this weekend. With exception of this weekend and the IHRA Pro Am that was scheduled, which we are working to get it rescheduled now, the schedule is still fixed and we don’t anticipate any other issues with the schedule.
Stay tuned and we will be posting what is happening this weekend as soon as we have the timing computer fixed, Ken does not want to post an event then have to cancel it if the computer is not fixed.
We are here, and we are still the Concrete Palace, the Dallas Raceway!
Huzzah!
Latest from their FB page (thanks POS Racing):
Dallas Raceway has new owners as of Monday May 6th, Mike & Sharon Adcock. I assure all of you that this race track is now in the best of hands that it could have ever had. This is a transition for us all but we are here to make this race track what it was built for in the beginning. We assure you that we are going to work very hard to make this place your home away from home as well as having shows booked that will keep you entertained. Kelly Duncan is the new Track Manager. Monica Duncan will be running the tower. We will have the best of the best crew to run the track properly. We are all so excited to get started on making this "THE" place to race! Please bare with us while we make all the necessary upgrades & repairs that the track needed to have a safe & clean environment for racers & their families. We are going to be keeping you all updated daily on our progress. Mike & Sharon are very eager to open up for business so we know that this is going to move fast & the opening day with the new owners will be very soon!
Well, this is good news. But now...if they are going to be doing some renovations, I hope they have a place for the equipment other than the lot we use...
This muddies the waters even more I think. Depending on the new owners views, I would not be too confident autocross will continue at DRW. They may choose to focus on their core business and not take in the extra income we provide. Alternatively, they may start charging significantly higher fees than the we currently pay which would likely reduce the number of events the various clubs hold at that venue.
Which would be a shame. Honestly, what kind of money is that place going to make on a Sunday just sitting there empty...
I've been in contact with the new owners and the new manager. No news to report yet.
At happy hour he is glass mostly empty.
We have a positive advocate in Mike Massey, whose family runs/ran the snack bar concession. He has assured me that he will go to bat for us if he's still at the table, in terms of highlighting the numbers we bring and the family-friendly nature of autox.
I don't think it needs to be on the back burner. My comment was only in response to the optimism. We do not know what the new owners vision is and until he commits to us (or not) we are in limbo. ER has 3-4 more events scheduled there and we will need to source new venues fairly soon if it is a no-go. We know how much you Hate Mesquite JFo but at least one of the next 3 will be there if DRW goes tits up.
Only when you haven't refilled my glass you cheap bastard:punchout:
See above
I spoke to the new management today. Dallas Raceway is not available for autocross any more. They want to concentrate on building up their core drag racing business. They will be scheduling drag racing on every Saturday and Sunday through the end of November. I suppose there is a small chance of a winter autocross.
Well damn. That's disappointing.
Let's see how Sunday drag racing in Texas heat fares. I suspect there may be a change of heart down the road.
My guess is they may have a change of heart but only when they go bankrupt again. We would be better served to find a place somewhere else. Preferably in the center of DFW. Anyone think we could get DFW to close a runway periodically?
