^Thanks Steve...did some more research yesterday. It turns out my ECU is a B6AW model, which is the California version.
Supposedly it uses different injector firing (sequential vs batch) than the other non-Cali models, and the ECU's are not interchangeable.
It also uses a different injector wiring harness (NA36-67-080 vs NA01-67-080C).
EDIT - wonder if I changed the injector harness I could run a non-Cali ECU...
I believe you can.
As i recall the price on injector harness new is not bad thru mazdacomp. In KS today on a parts run so i cant check my records.
Let me check parts box. I may still have old one. I know i have two sets of matched injectors
