87' CRX- HF-
85' Jeep Cherokee 2 door

Bought Sunny II for $3200, (hit in the rear) and used the best panels to fix Sunny, plus sold some stuff.
Dimples was a $4000 Laguna Blue with 138K miles, now at 150k. James Bondo was another $4000 93 LE, but I sold $1600 worth of parts. The rest were all cheap....$500, $700, and $1700 (with a hardtop). All in all, I figure I have $15,000 invested (including a second hardtop) and will make two Spec Miatas out of four, turn James Bondo back into a nice street car for another $5-7000. Not bad for $22,000 for five Miatas and lots and lots of extra parts. You can never have too many spares in Spec Miata :)

Merv,
I wish I had my pick of about 12 of your past cars to sell at Barrett Jackson last month. I'd be rich I tell you! :D
I read a quote once that said Zora Duntov's favorite Vette was a 71(?) convertible with a 454, automatic and tall gears. I probably mangled that, but you get the idea.
The only ones that would bring any decent money are the 70 Z28, 71 LS6 Vette, and the 65 Lincoln conv. I wish i still had them, too. This Vette was awesome! 1971 was the first year for the low compression engines, and I didn't even know they made a low compression LS6. It had aluminum open chamber heads, 7/16" pushrods, forged, cross-drilled crank, forged pistons, shot-peened rods, four bolt mains, a Holley 735cfm double-pumper, and a dual disk clutch/pressure plate combo. The car had NO power anything, no A/C, only options were cruise control and an FM radio. It was red/red and was just awesome! If I only had known what it would be worth some day....... :(Quote:

Wow last post was 04-11-2005, 02:56 PM way to dig up the oldies ProntoPhil
Well, what can I say, I'm slowing down in my old age. Actually I was looking for something else and came accross this old thread, not looking at the date. Oh well. Since then I rememberd 4 other vehicles.
Wow, this is an old thread. I've only been posting here since April '06, so I'll play along.
This is in six years of driving:
1988 Ford DisguSTANG (primer/white? 2.3 automatic :punchout:): Bought from my Aunt for $150. Cleaned out $15 in change. Car had been through my Aunt and her 3 sons. Car had either 186,xxx or 286,xxx miles. Don't know for sure because the older odometer would reset at 99,999. Car lived with a constant state of bird crap attached to it.
1990 300ZX (charcoal/automatic) Bought this from a neighbor for $500. Put $700 in it, drove it for 16 months, then sold it for $5,000.
1993 Subaru Legacy (green-then krylon flat black/ 2.2 fwd 5spd): Bought from a friend for $300. Put very little money in it and drove it for 27 months. Should have never sold this car.
1994 Subaru Impreza (red/ 1.8 fwd 5spd): Bought from a guy for $500. Did a tune-up with free-brand new parts and sold it for $1800.
1985 Toyota Corolla SR5 converted to GT-S (silver, 1.6 high revving 5spd) Bought for $800. Took it apart, made it run right (with help from boisking), and sold it.
1996 Mazda Miata (classic red): Current miata with all the goodies.
1994 Miata R-package (brilliant black): Bought on ebay, got screwed a little, made it run right (with help from boisking), sold it after 2 months of owning to boisiking. :D
'93 red miata parts car
'90 white miata parts car
99.5 VW Jetta TDI: My work car and current DD.
Can't forget the motos:
99 Kawasaki Ninja ZX6 (red w/silver/ 6spd): ton of performance mods, extremely fast for a 600cc, sold it cause I coldn't go the speed limit
'01 Suzuki SV650S (blue/6spd): gobs of torque, great commuter, 50mpg, Boisking's old bike, sold it cause I spend too much money last year.
1983 Yamaha RX50 (black/5spd 2 stroke): Still own it, bike I learned to ride on, it's street legal 50cc that isn't a moped!!!!
In order...
1966 Ford Mustang - white coupe with an aqua interior. 289 2-barrel with an auto tranny. My only automatic. Sold it after high school to buy...
1989 Honda CRX Si. First new car. Black on gray. Traded in for a...
1993 Honda Civic EX Coupe. Black on tan. Had it for 11 years! Traded it in on the Acura.
1993 Isuzu Pick-up. Got it when I bought a new house for trips to Loews. Sold it to buy my Miata.
2004 Acura TSX. Charcoal over gray. Still have it.
1993 Mazda Miata. White over black. Still have it.
Someone call in the cleaning crew to get the cobwebs off of this one...
Wow, I got in late...
1979 Mercedes 300SD Turbo (5 cylinder diesel). Pretty much a ship on wheels... 0-60 in 22 seconds (20 with powerbraking :D). It would drift on gravel roads and was surprisingly controllable.
1986.5 Toyota Supra Naturally aspirated, automatic, and the most unreliable car I've had. I would break down almost every time I went to the mall... everything from electrical problems to transmission problems. The transmission would accelerate through 1st just fine, then jump straight to overdrive... wtf? I never could race anybody... Once I was driving down the airport road near my house when the power steering, AC, and brakes went out. I said "Uhhhh...". Pulled over, and heard a clank. Looked under the car and the crank pulley had fallen off. It's life finally ended when I blew the head gasket and it got turned into a parts car... but I didn't learn my lesson because my next car was a...
1988 Toyota Supra Turbo Turbo, targa top, 5spd, and FUN. Came to me with a custom exhaust already installed; I modded it out pretty nicely and am guessing I was running about 300hp when I finished (conservatively). Took it on cruises and to car gatherings... I loved that car. Significantly more reliable than the previous one, too :D Sold it to a numbnuts kid who promptly blew the engine then blamed me for it, and then got royally owned on Supraforums for it :D
1995 Acura Integra A friend of mine who flies for Continental Express sold me this for a steal.. his wife was the driver and she drives pretty much like a granny. It had about 135k when I bought it and still ran like it was new. Sold it to my brother.
1992 Mazda Miata Yes, this is my baby... you know the story of this one (I became a member here right before I bought it), Wrecked it, fixed it, repainted, and now she's my weekend and autocross car. Nothing like a convertible :D
1995 Acura Integra Bought it back from my brother recently for a daily driver and airplane carrier... needs a brake job, but I haven't had the extra money to run it up to Rogue yet ;)
Not an impressive list, but I'm working on it. A new daily driver will probably be next on the list, then an Elise :D
These are in order of ownership...
1. 1966 Chevy Corvair Monza (My first car. My grandfather gave it to me)
2. 1966 Ford Mustang (289 V-8, glass packs and Cragar SS... Loved it!!!)
3. 1991 Nissan 240SX (I shouldn't have gotten rid of this car, I still miss it)
4. 1981 Ford Courier
5. 1987 Honda Civic (bought for $100 and sold it two days later for $700)
6. 1995 Ford T-Bird

8. 1977 Toyota Celica GT (parts car)

How did I miss this thread???
It's only 15 so far... but I'm young yet...
78 Camaro - First car, 305 auto, fake Z28, bought at a classic car auction when I was 15. Gorgeous paint and clean interior, but a rustbucket underneath. Almost totally undriveable in the real world - throwing belts, dying at intersections, etc. Suck-o, as cars go.
89 Mustang - LX 5.0 auto, ex-Budget rent-a-car. From Oklahoma. Arguably the best car I've ever owned, at least as far as reliablility. Tons of fun once I put 3.55 gears in it. I even turned a 14.9 with the stock 2.73's.
81 RX7 - Bought for $600 with the profit I turned from scalping Pink Floyd tickets in '94. Long-time project car that I really didn't sink any money into - just kept stripping it of parts and drove it till it finally quit running. Finally traded it to a guy at work for a case of beer.
79 MGB roadster - Had it for a summer. Shitty brakes. Shift knob came off in my hand on a regular basis. Teeth busted off the flywheel, so I sometimes had to roll it downhill to start it. Backfired like a 12-gauge Remington. However, it had dual Webers and a long-tube header, and was one of the best sounding cars I've ever had. I taught myself how to heel-toe shift in this one.
86 RX7 GXE - Bought off a used car lot for nothing. Crappy transmission. Shitty electricals. Busted A/C. But, man, that car handled better than anything I had ever owned to date.
85 RX7 S - One owner. 140K miles. Steel wheels. Perfect shape. I mean P-E-R-F-E-C-T shape. No door pecks. No squeaks or rattles. Shiny paint (Amana Tan). Bone stock down to the AM/FM radio (no tape deck, even). Shoulda kept it, but I actually sold it for a nice profit after I drove it for a year. Oh well.
84 RX7 GSL-SE - Urban camo (tan/rust/primer). Effed up steering (until I fixed it). Bent axle. Smoked like a chainsaw. Rusted-out header (very, very, very, very loud). Bald-ass tires. That car was possibly the most fun-to-drive piece of shit I've ever owned. I'd still love to find one in really nice shape and relatively low miles (for a reasonable price, that is).
95 Camaro Z28 - My one and only new car. Bought it for a hair over $20K, including Bose, leather, and all power options (but no T-tops). The second most reliable car I've ever owned. An absolute beast of a motor that made blool-curdling sounds after I installed SLP headers and cat-back exhaust (you could drop golf balls straight through it). Damn near a 160-mph car that got 27mpg on the highway (even after I put 3.73 gears in it). 6-speed with a Hurst shifter (chrome stick and white ball, no less) that had rifle-bolt precision. And decent handling to boot. Man, I want another one. Dammit.
85 Suburban 4x4 - Well, after I wrecked the Z28, I drove this for a while. 9 mpg on a good day. Giant tires. Kickin' stereo. Busted A/C, but a friggin fun ride.
84 BMW 745i - My dad bought it new(ish) in late '84. Grey market turbo that redefined "turbo lag." However, it'll beat almost anything in a 40-punch race (the slushbox will kick down to low gear when you stomp it at 40). I've had it to about 150 flat-out. Glass-smooth, but it's laid up at the moment, and it may or may not see the light of day again.
79 Accord - FOR SALE! Project car. Still. Canadian 2-valve head with a hot cam. Dual Webers. Long-tube header. Adjustable Konis all-around. Sure was fun when I drove it home!
85 RX7 S - Another tan one. This one's sitting on a trailer at my folks' house with a super-built fuelie 5.0 V8 sitting under the hood. One of these days...
88 Lincoln LSC - The V8 in the aforementioned RX7? Got it here. Bought this car off a lot in Fort Worth on my lunch hour one day. Drove it home. Kinda wish I had a nice LSC to play with - I hear there's a guy in Atlanta the goes through them and makes them backroad BMW killers...
98 Camry - Paid $800 for this gem. My buddy was going to trade it in on a Lexus, but some crackhead broke into it and effed up the dash trying to remove the Alpine radio. So, I got it for a steal, put the factory radio back in it, and reassembled the dash from the pieces I picked off the floor and with liberal use of JB Weld. Hell, it looked pretty good after I got done with it. The slushbox went south at 180K miles, however, so I hawked it to an enterprising young man who must've had a spare tranny in his garage. Got $2300 for it as it stood... seriously.
94 Miata - Most fun I've had in any car I've ever owned. Period. Nuff said.
Asked myself the same question, Ricardo! Could've sworn I'd listed 'em off before...
Brief list for me so far.
'89 Hyundai Excel - craptacular, but great for high school & college
'96 Chevy Cavalier Z24 - loaded, fairly fun, great except for the water pump
'63 Ford Falcon Futura Convertible - cute, fun, expensive to repair
'01 Chevy Cavalier Z24 - unloaded, endless steering issues
'91 Chevy Cavalier wagon - base model with boost when the fuel pump works
'92 Mazda Miata - previously owned by sammm & greaseslapper, now by farphle, did the timing belt twice in a weekend. Tore in a 3rd time for a weepy water pump the same weekend.
'90 Mazda Miata - zippy, striped, semi-LE, high miles...and leaking coolant still
I'm sensing a theme. Maybe I should just get a car with an air-cooled engine. Then I won't have to worry so much about fluid leaks.
My list isn't as full as some on here, at my age of 25. Plus I don't like to constantly buy and sell cars, preferring instead to hold on to them. I intend to keep my current Miata for as long as I can (20 years, I hope).
2nd gen Honda Accord
1991 Honda Civic DX Sedan
1992 Nissan 240SX
