Like those Polk's... what made you go with a stock Protege radio? Should fill up that double-din hole nicely.

That makes a lot of sense. I hate removable as well. I put the 'demo' screw in my Sony, but not sure if it's going to help so much if a passerby is not feeling particularly "deterred". I walk away from my car with the top down and the same two items locked if the temp is above 50 degrees, and it's dry. I should have thought of this option, as some of those have very good iPod control options out there.
Dang Mod's should know how to start a new thread...j/k
I thought that the Bose systems were "dead heads" and did not have the amplifier built in to the unit. That being said, I think the stereo part of the stock Bose system is a misnomer. The stereo separation sucks at best.
Installed...well sort of, until I get the correct mount kit. I like it and the Polks sound great! ::rock::
Quck q the speaker wires are red/green red/white. Which one is the neg wire??
Whoops think I gotem hooked up backwards. I still can't get over how bad they sound hopefully the new ground will fix some of that but I think those speakers may already be shot.
Any one got a preferred brand of speakes? I was looking at those polk ones posted earlier and some Alpines. I'm not an audiophile so I'm noy sure what the good brands are..
Well, typically they don't get messed up (or sound particularly trashy) if they are hooked up backward. Any chance you got just one of the two backward? You could have been hearing them out of phase, and that can sound pretty bad. A set of speakers wired backward won't perform the way intended, but may not necessarily sound poorly in normal listening situations. In either case, unless you had them cranked and left them there for a long time, it's very likely that they are okay, and wiring them correctly will give you different (better sounding) results.
I was at Frys Electronics in Plano last night and I believe they had the Polk DB651s on sale for $40 per pair. Frys.com has them listed at $99, so call first to make sure.
The Polk DB651s are ok...especially for $40 a pair...
But I still recommend Focal above all else - any model of Focal is good for the price.
Some Polks, a lot, on the other hand, aren't that awesome.
ehh.
I have always liked the sound of Infinity speakers.
Then again, as long as you go with a decent speaker, it is all based on taste and listening preferences..... there is no *BEST* speaker.
I'm running infinity reference co-axial speakers in the doors, and like them.
Focal Speakers are sweet but way out of my price range.
