Thanks for the tip -- I'll give it a try next event. On the other hand, we also print to a laser printer (we use an "A/B Switch" to select between the two), so wouldn't that printer be unhappy with the port in Standard mode?

Another "data point" is that our old laptop seems to work fine. It is slow -- particularly with the latest version of AXWare -- and we wanted a second PC anyway (fail over, in case the first PC died at an event). We figured we'd use the new PC and have the old PC as our reserve... silly us for expecting that new PC to actually work! We've reloaded the PC from scratch several times, but just can't seem to get it to work properly. And after having 5 or 6 people mess with it during yesterday's event, even the laser printer wouldn't work (it had worked fine in the morning). A case of "too many chefs spoil the pot" if ever I saw one... :wink:

Most lasers will work in standard mode so it shouldn't be too much of an issue. ECP or EPP mode just hoses dot matrix printers.

Worst case... you just buy a cheezy little USB to Parallel adapter off of eBay to run the laser on. ;)

Welllllllll,

My day sucked as far as time go. The RED came with Victoracers, so I thought I'd give them a try. WRONG, they were hard and slick and had little traction. I spent most of the time spinning the wheels or going slow. One minute it would push and then WHAM, loose..

I learned not to race on old tires. I think the the Azenis would have been better.

I did however beat Monkey by about 0.071 of a second. Thats all I care about.

Congrates to Mrs. Monkey on her class win :D :D . She had a 104 somthing time, but with two cones :? She is already asking when the next race is.

If the Monkey's continue to race Black and White I think they should buy the next set of tires. :wink:

I had an absolute blast... didn't post good times but improved on every run which is important. Lamenting that I'll not be able to afford any decent tyres or shocks for some time... but planning to be out in a month for the S2K!

Thanks to all the guys who showed me where I should be and when, took me in their car to show me what speed I should be going, and didn't laugh when I kept on sliding off!

Well, first thing this morning I hit the old excuse generator. Now, I was a little reluctant to rely on it again after that lame "McDonalds is out of my way" excuse it provided for me previously. This time it came up with, "You used last year's Victoracers on a cold day and it was like driving a damned Zamboni". OK. I decided to give the old 'scuserator the benefit of the doubt, and that's the one I'm going with....especially since somebody else experienced the same excellent level of performance from extremely used and abused Victoracers.... and especially when, after loading the car on the trailer and brushing 10 or so pebbles off of the race tires, nothing had actually lodged INTO the tires. :roll:

One of these days you children are going to learn to never start the season on used tires if you're trying to be competitive. :wink: I think John B. learned that lesson on spades on Sunday. :shock:

Do they make V710s in your sizes, Ruth?

I was racing on shocks and springs that had seen 150K plus miles... I wasn't doing myself any favors. :shock:

Enjoyed the video...are you sure she has never done this before? Watching her hands, with a couple of exceptions, she had good wheel control, no fast, jerky motions, and looked very smooth for the most part. If she learns to "shuffle steer" and try and keep her hands planted in the right position, she will do very well... great job for a beginner.... :o
