TXU to raise rates 24%

With the current heat wave, I am bringing this thread back. Here's a new website to compare rates -

There's a provider based in Ft. Worth that will save you 14% over TXU. The rate is guaranteed for 12 months. I am close to pulling the trigger on this one.

Cool so you are only locked in for that 12 months! Sweet!

Just looking at my last TXU bill it states "the average price you paid for electrical service this month was 14.49 cents per kWh...."

how much is the deposit they hold for the 12 months?

Compares to Reliant 14.2 cents/KWhr (monthly service fee included) (5% off TXU rate) it is cheaper, but I am not sure about the "13th month thing". Also the rate quoted does not include the monthly service fee! Currently Reliant is offering $50 credit to sign up; promod code M2979 (no relationship w Reliant etc....)

I had been with Entergy for 2 years and never had any problem. My wife did not ever know I switched. A month ago they sold my account to some outfit in OK. I was pissed with the new company. They were so angry that I had the nerve to call them! I hope Reliant is as good as Entergy. They may not the cheapest, but then they do not have fine print and treats me like a customer!

If I'm locked in at a lower rate for 12 months why would I cancel? Do you think any of these companies are going to get cheaper anytime soon? Yes, Reliant does give a $50 credit on your first bill. I think I can do better than that given the savings difference.

They all charge a monthly service fee. TXU, Reliant, First Choice. Of the 3, First Choice is the cheapest.

Entergy is no longer, it's not just your account. I forget who bought them out or what they are called now.
