Yeah, that grass sure does slow you down. ::Bleh::

Took my car to Trackdog to make sure the car was ready for Hallett. I drove it last weekend and did not like a sound I was hearing. Gary gave it a test drive today and the diff exploded. Sorry guys for the mess on your street. 23 years and a bunch of abuse will do that some times.
Yep Glad it broke a couple of weeks before Hallett and at our shop no less. Another bonus is bnordin is able to upgrade to the much stronger Torsen. Texas Stig's old Torsen I think.
Jovany has the old diff out and will get the new diff in tomorrow. The old diff is a large paper weight. It's literally in pieces. One swiss cheese differential for free if anyone wants it! ::Banana::
Sorry to hear about the damage but I bet you'll like the new diff climbing up outta the bitch!
Holy Smokes, you were still running the puny 1.6 diff? ::Shrug::
I'm surprised it lasted this long, you must be paw-pawing it. ;)
are you going to keep the 4.30 gear ratio?
::Fruity::::Fruity::::Fruity::This thread is so full of love. ::Fruity::::Fruity::::Fruity::
Bobby's new diff will pull him out of trouble when William practices his late-braking techniques...
Not sure if this video helps the kittens but here it is.

I though I'd show you pics of Bobby's rear-end. ::Bum::
It exploded out the lower left side of the case.

A bolt shot up through the upper left of the case as well.
Yikes!

This would have most certainly been an end of Bob's weekend and a tow home. Good timing little red car! ::Good::
1:25.2 in a PTC car with godly driver, totally different lap:
http://youtu.be/_yXFoA5cmrM
I should be able to turn a 1:26.9 in my car. EEK!!! I got in that car and in just like 7 laps ran a 27 without even trying, in a car I don't own.
Nice lap. What is the p/w in that thing?
You can trust that it's built to the limits of the class and on my car at 2230lb my power limit was going to be 168whp; that car is probably lighter. He and that car won PTC and TTC at nationals last year and he's probably doing it again this year, but in another car. That was done on NT-01s too, he didn't even put the Hoosiers on which are still legal in C.
The two-dozen laps we spent together changed the way I drive a car on track, that's for sure.
Spent some quality time up at Track Dog and under the hood to make sure the engine compartment stays a little cooler. Gary's silicone intake + a TDR header blanket. Almost ready to go!

Suddenly that intake is super popular. I tried a bunch of different ones and this one did the best and doesn't heat soak.
oooo, 1 more week. At my age its rare to feel like an 8 year old a week before Christmas.
So, they have gas pumps at the track. In years past, have the had enough fuel for all weekend? (91 octane)
Yes, with the 4.30.
For all your Hallett newbies, please be advised that 91 octane is all you will find. If your car requires 93 octane, plan accordingly. A gallon of Toluene mixed with a tank of 91 gets you close to 93.
The track does have a tank with 100 octane, but there's no guarantee it will be filled. Plus, it's $7/gallon or thereabouts.
And if you have tow hooks, mount them. It's easy to go off-roading at Hallett. And if you'd like to know the most scenic and popular off-track spots, just follow William...
;)
When does action start on Friday?
Oklahoma has some gas stations outside of the major cities that serve up non-ethanol gas. I found one between the lake and the hotel last year. Gas stations near the hotel will have ethanol. There is probably some phone app that will help you find it.
Cleveland has the nearest non-ethanol gas to the track. Check it out on pure gas dot com. NC's will need octane boost.
Try http://pure-gas.org/ instead... ;)
Newbie here so I have a bunch of questions. Only driving on Saturday. Plan on bringing extra oil and pads (though I don't expect to need the pads). What else should I bring that might not be obvious to a first-timer? I have a race port. Will there be air for tires? A jack and tools for repairs if necessary (hopefully not)?
What about track insurance?
Also, any experienced drivers willing to take a passenger on Friday? I understand I will have an instructor my first session at least (possibly more), but I figure the more instruction I can get the better, so I'm open to anybody volunteering to impart their wisdom.
^
Bring:
Pads, brake fluid, oil, tools to change pads or make minor repairs, air pressure gauge, jack stands ( and a jack if you have room), windex, small cooler for water/Gatorade, folding chair, a good attitude.
I'm sure there will be plenty of peeps willing to give you a ride along on Friday.
you should do your ride alongs in this order: 1) NA 2) NB 3) NC 4) turbo or supercharged.
And beer. Because they only sale that weak shiz in Oklahoma.
You can buy the good shizz in OK but it won't be cold. You'll have to use your hotel bathtub to chill it. You're more than welcome to ride with me on Friday if you want - ridealongs are key to figuring out the track and having more fun...
Track insurance? WTF is that??? Lol
If you can't afford to wreck it, you can't afford to track it...
BRB, reducing spark angle.
