Yeah you can trail brake but that's not the spot to do it. Ken if you were in a slower car like a Miata you would only need a brake tap or a lift before the crest. Last year riding with Miatamoto, he didn't even bother with that and just stayed on the gas through there. Was a pucker moment the first time.
I tap. I can deal with losing .25 sec. in that section...
Miatamoto is a good driver in a prep car. That video is my well prep M3 on 275 Hoosier R6s.
I think level of car prep, driver skill and confidence level play a big part in carrying speed through any section.
Work into a comfort level. I agree with giving it up and driving it home.
M3 drivers are a pain in my ::Bum::

I just sent JR an email asking about gate/start times for both Fri-Sa (never heard back last week?).
I wanted to post some info on Miatas @ Hallett this year. We will be having five classes instead of four to help eliminate some of the crowding in previous years, especially in Int II. We are also dropping the price from $165 to $135. The Friday afternoon session is still $75 as there are some fixed costs we just can't bypass. Friday will be open to anyone with prior track experience, not necessarily Hallett, including the Motorsports Ranch, TWS, TMS or others. If you have any questions about whether you qualify, contact me here or at [email protected]. Also, you don't have to run Saturday to run Friday, but we'd really like it if you did. Are we required to wear a race suit on Friday. Can we run with the top down? Inquiring minds want to know.
I think that Friday's requirements are the same as Saturday's. But, this is my first Friday at M@H, so I just guessing.
And, top down was OK on Saturday the last two years. But, that's only for the car.
"Appropriate clothing is required while on the track. Long sleeve shirts and long pants are required, preferably cotton. Shoes should be comfortable rubber smooth soled such as tennis shoes or boat shoes. No sandals will be allowed."

And a few more questions, they flyer says that registration is 12-5 Friday at the Hampton. Lots of us will be at the track then. Will it be possible to register at the track on Friday, or will well all have to do it Saturday morning at the track.
Will our Friday tech be valid for Saturday? Again, don't want to be running around on Saturday morning if we can avoid it..

We will register you at the track as well as perform the clean tech on the car. We are going to handle everything at the track Friday and we will have at least four volunteers who will be performing the clean tech and registering participant. Tech is good for the weekend.
At the first session on Satruday the volunteers will make sure your car is free on extra items, but you will not have to go through tech again.

It is hard to believe that we are less than two weeks from Mitas At Hallett. We are going to do something different this year-register participants who are driving at our Friday track day at the track. We are going to perform our clean tech and register you where you are parked between noon and 1 PM. There will be four or five volunteers from the Arkansas Miata Club who will be doing this, so it should not be a problem. To complete these tasks in a timely manner we need you help. Please do the following:
1.Clean out your car before you get to the track. Check your glove box, trunk, cubbie holes and behiund the seats. Be sure to remove your floor mats too.
2. Be at the track before Noon on the 17th. The track will not open until noon, but you need to be in line so you enter the track quickly,when it does open.
3. Bring your required forms. You should have downloaded them with the forms you sent in. IF you didn't, you can go to the Arkansas Miata Club website and down load them. The forms you need are:
-Pre-inspection form (completed within 30 days of the event)
-Driver's License Form/Helment Release Form
-Medical Form
-Clean Tech Inspection Form
4. Be sure to have a long sleeve shirt and your helment

What the hell did you hit? The Grand Canyon?
Take it from a former Okie, I-35 to OKC and then turnpike to Tulsa is the best route. I think the speed limit on the turnpike is 75 MPH now. Too many speed traps on the 75/69 route.
I35 is under constant construction.
If you wanted a more scenic route, take 377 out of DFW up to 177 through Sulpher (where you can stop and see the springs/take a dip [warning it's cold]). When you hit 40 east of OKC you have lots of routes you can take. This route will take longer, but you'll see more than interstate and long delays south of OKC.
I'm headed to OKC for a free bed on Thursday night so I can have a leisurely breakfast and make the short drive to the track Friday morning.
Last year Vern and I went back to Dallas via OKC - not a bad way to go, and OKC makes a nice lunch stop. Agreed that 75/69 is a shitty drive. I don't like slowing down for all the speed traps. Besides, I'm going to get enough driving in over the weekend, so I want to take the cruise control route home.
