Going through some old stuff, I found an old KZEW "Zoo Freak" decal in a book that hasn't been opened for 30 years. Anybody else here ever sport one of these back in "the day"?
Bonus points if you can name the bands in the first Texas Jam, July 1st, 1978.

KZEW was very cutting edge with some of the music and artists they would feature. Late nights, spinning an entire album without commercial breaks. Law enforcement targeted vehicles with a Zoo Freak decal, since it was highly likely that a search of said vehicle would usually turn up something that wasn't legal. Back then, that was enough to be considered probable cause.
Me? I stuck my decal in a book and drove around with a respectable Rice University sticker that came with my XR7.
I have 94.5 "The Edge", back when it was good.
Back when Geoge Gimarc was running it.
I was listening to "Tales from the Edge" 84-87 yesterday.
The Edge got me thru art school, and Mondoblock weekends.
Dont forget 97.1 KEGL is back on the air. No jocks yet, but the music is back

It went Spanish... and then something else... or in the other order.
I was listening to KZEW when it changed suddenly. I was in Waco (not Water) listening to the Zoo in Novemeber or December 1989. Sad Day.

I think their morning show was the first place I remember hearing that "Jam, this traffic jam" jingle when they gave the traffic report. I also seem to remember someone saying "Rodie" in a high pitched voice on a regulat basis. And the elephant sound when they said their call letters.
These days, I wish I had XM in my car to listen to Ethel. I have pretty much heard all of the Bob Seger, Tom Petty, and Eagles that need to listen to in this life, so I try to find new stuff. I will die happy if I never hear another Steve Miller tune, especially that one with the whistles. Argh!
92.5 is now playing the stuff they played when I first started listening to them. They called it Progressive Country back in the day. Then they went to that elephant beastie. First time I ever heard Bugs Henderson was on the Zew

Kiss FM was good when it first came out.
Not only does the Rude one have his KZEW stickers but when I restored my 65 Vette I purposely left the "KZEW Biker" decal in the rear window.
The elephannt had a shorty helmet on and the decal was smaller.
I also left my DIMS sticker on the drivers vent window. Remember that?
Radion was good back then as the only switching was between the KZEW and Q102 when they were playing the deep cuts.
When a new album came out they would ply it through starting at midnight.

The days of our youth. I was and still am a loyal ZEWCINNIE. Many a night was spent out the the The Ritz "Rock _n_ Roll" and then driving back home to Fort Worth. ::rock:::drink::drunken: I was lucky that I never got pulled over or wrecked.
And the Texas Jams. My favorite was with Ted Nugent and Rush. What a concert.
I used to listen to the Zoo.
Don't still have a sticker though.

I still have a KZEW sticker from 1977. I put it on the trashcan in my room when I was a kid and my mom still uses the trashcan today.

Cool, I'm glad the Eagle is back, one classic station just isn't enough. Remember before Eagle 97 was Z-97. Showing off my age now ;)
