Anybody know a good way to get weather reports and/or road conditions while I'm in the car? What about those little NOAA weather radios? I'm hitting road Friday and I've got this sinking feeling that I'm going to be dodging snow and ice again like I did last year... good times!

It doesn't have a dedicated weather feature, but it would be good in an emergency. It doesn't use batteries. It has a crank handle to generate power. I bought one last year at Lowe's for ~$15.

I have a cheapo hand-crank flashlight/radio combo that works best only in extreme emergency cases... so unless you foresee that sort of situation, I'd not recommend one you have to constantly crank to get info out of.

Battery power would be a plus... and I'm looking for something that has a weather band feature. My dad's old '76 Eldorado has an AM/FM/Weather Band radio, so surely someone makes a portable one today...

The largest one is $130, but the smallest one seems to be a great thing for an emergency situation.
Rik, I have a Cobra 75WX CB that has Noaa weather and is all Mic control.
I have one in each Miata, and good thing is its always in car.
The unit is trunk mounted and only the Mic is in the cockpit.
Has saved out butts a few times, between Truckers and Noaa.

The '92 has a Jeff Anderson splitter and my 93LE has a magnetic I keep in the trunk.

They have a weather feature on XM radio now, Its an extra $6 or $7 on top of the subscription. Works with certain GPS nav's for full graphic output.
Its the baller option.

I also have that CB with the Jeff Anderson Antenna Splitter. My only complaint it the external speaker seems rather weak. I tried a non-powered external speaker but it isn't much better. Any suggestions? I've heard good things about this speaker.
I forgot about the Cobra 75WX. That is a good suggestion.

I have my old CB w/o a weather channel (just a standard 40ch unit) and a magnetic mount antenna. You are more than welcome to borrow it for your trip. A CB is a good thing still on long trips. Truckers can be a valuable source of information.

My Icom 208H has a built in weather radio memory set. On top of that, almost all of the 2m radios will receive the frequencies necesary to get the weather radio.
I just have weather.com bookmarked on my blackjack internet browswer and hit refresh.
