Just bought a Smart Car.... Need to price advise on the Turd...

Well I just took delivery of a 2008 Yellow Smart Coupe and need to thin out the herd a little at my house, so I need some HONEST opinions on setting an asking/selling price on the Turd.

1990 Blue Miata 140k+ (odometer/speedo doesnt work-bad cable)
1.8L 1994 Swap using FM kit (I did this last year)
2001 Transmission last year (40-50K transmission)
Newish Falken Azenis on 94-97 Wheels
Good HD Clutch (Mid grade Tq clutch - cant remember name)
Rust in the Quarter Panels
Dent in the front Quarter Panel
2000 Glass top with patch (looks a little ghetto)
Loud 2.5" exhaust ( can swap back to a stock fairly easy...)

Any Ideas?

Seriously though. $1500-$2000 depending on how well you can polish the turd.

Well considering it was designed by Mercedes and has a low tire air pressure sensor, I dont think I have to worry about losing a wheel....

Well, they do have a turbo version in the UK, so I am sure a mani/turbo and DP will make its way over sooner or later..... but this looks like a cool option as well....

I was thinking a little more than the $2000 mentioned for the fresh tires and the fact that the paint looks so good. Maybe $2500 if it runs well.

However, I suspect that the damaged top may limit it's selling power. $2000 seems like a good price.

Edit: I reread the original post and saw the newish transmission and clutch work. But I still think the rust and mild body damage balance to limit it to $2000. You might ask $2500 and see if someone bites.

The wheels are 15" which is larger then most stock miata wheels until 01...

Serious? 15" and 3 lugs?? I'm surprised.

155/60/15 fronts. 175/55/15 rears.

Now this I don't get. On an economy car like this, why would they put staggerd wheels on it so that you cannot rotate the tires?!:rolleyes:

Wish I knew about that TCEQ list, but I think our income exceeds the limit.

I always thought the color scheme's on those cars are inventive, They sell a lot of used ones in Weatherford.
several months ago they had a lot full of them....dont know anything about the seller but they went quick!
they even had convertible versions.

that's a sweet looking little car, should be a lot of fun, just dont roll it.

Those were new Gray Market 2005 and 2006 models. They cost a lot more for them because the cars had to be converted for the US regulations with a maximum of 1000 cars allowed by the DOT Regs. Typical sales prices for those wer egoing for about $10000 more than the current 2008 models. G&K Imports out of Santa Ana, CA imported them.

That would probably explain why Greenville Pontiac is asking 22k for a used one then.
