I have a huge storage tub of my old record albums. They have been sitting in the tub, in the garage since we moved about a 1.5 years ago. It kills me to think about just throwing them away.
What have you old timers who know what I'm talking about done with your albums? ::OldMan::
They're sitting in a plastic box in the garage. Probably warped over time.???
I'm not even sure where mine are anymore. Probably stored in the attic along with the candle collection.
My wife has framed some... Fran Sinatra, Peggy Lee etc.
We are planning on hanging them up at some point.

I sold mine to Half Price Books for next to nothing. I did not want them sitting around forever and I did not want to throw them away.

Most of mine (ok... my Dad's) are sitting in a plastic crate next to the washer. It's some good stuff so I don't want to get rid of them. Maybe when we get a bigger place, I'll get a vintage console stereo to play them on.

I just threw away some...was going through a box I retrieved from storage and found a couple of strays...actually kind of embarassing...k-tel...disco hits... The others (the good stuff) are in a plastic "tub" in the garage...at least they were...they may have mysteriously disappeared as while I am typing this I don't remember seeing them...
Nope still there...in the garage...they mean nothing to everybody but me! One by one...I give in...and toss them...most have already been replaced with a CD...I've run the gammut...LP...tape...DVD...now mp3...never owned an 8 track... ;)
Some I just can't bring myself to toss...the Heart album with the really cool picture imbedded in the album...I think it's even numbered...1,847 out of 20,000...
I'm really NOT a pack rat...although when I encounter the "tub o' vinyl" something happens inside...not sure why...whether LP, tape, or CD or MP3...the song remains the same...
in a hundred years it won't matter
If they are 12" I'll take'em! I have a ton of 12" LPs in my closet; from EDM to some old Sinatra and classical music my grandparents gave me.

Thanks for all the replies. I've thought about transferring them to digital, but the thought of all the hiss/crackles/pops/etc doesn't do much for me. It's mostly a sentimental thing.
Not to mention I have some good stuff in there. The complete Led Zeppelin collection ( ::rock::) and the original Lynyrd Skynyrd - Street Survivor's album. The one that shows them on fire shortly before their plane went down.

Here is a response I got from a place in Grand Prairie called Forever Young Records. I have a friend that had a ton of old records and brought them down there and got a couple hundred for them. But he had alot of unique and records in his collection. I'm going to go by and drop mine off and see if they are worth anything, if not I'll just do the 1/2 Price thing.Quote:

I keep my LPs/12" eps/12" singles on some shelves in the bedroom with a few unique cd box releases. Five rare/signed/pulled by the record label LP releases are framed & hanging in the living room. Most of the 45s are in a box, though a few choice selections still live near the turntable or sit near the desk.
I've found that a couple of the albums are worth a couple of bills on fleaBay, so they'll be headed that way soon once the glut of one of them dies out.
1/2-Price Books...yeah, well, they'll give you a quarter each or something lame like that. At least it's a little more space available for...um...car parts or something. :D
I shudder to think what all the old 12" LPs and singles I sold to Half Price would be worth today on Ebay... :(
