PCA Time Trial #1, 4/26/08, Mineral Wells
Okay, who is in for something a little different? This is a great way to experience something closer to road course driving, but on the cheap. For the most part, a PCA TT at Mineral Wells is jut a coned road course. It is NOT an autocross. They always use one of these three courses. Whereas an AX you are in second gear and sometimes third, you will be in third and fourth the full time on these courses.
You usually get three heats. In each heat, you will get one warm up lap and 3-5 timed hot laps. Then you work the course, or vice versa. They often do two three lappers in the AM and one five lapper in the PM.
You also get about 30 minutes in the AM of open track, so you can learn the course by driving it over and over at about 1/2-2/3 speed.
More info here.
In my opinion, this is easier than autocrossing, so if any of you have been hesitant to try it out, this is a good time to have some fun in your car.
It would be great to see some of the road course guys from this forum out there.

slight change in plans for TT at MSR
The Mavericks decided that since this is the first time event (time trial) at MSR, they won't try to run the course backwards. Bummer!!!
Here's an email from the Time-Trial chair when I asked about how many sessions for the event:
"The current plan is each run group will run 1 session consisting of 2 sets of 1 warm-up and 3 hot laps per event. So in the morning you will get 2 warm-up, 6 hot and in the afternoon you will get 2 warm-up, 6 hot laps. Each run group will be broken into 4 sections with 4 cars in each for a total 16 cars per run group.
It was decided since this is the first effort at having a TT at MSR the chance of getting behind schedule in great. It will be a time saver to run the course in only one direction this time. We won't need to do parade laps in the afternoon.
