I started at 8 this morning - and it was damn cold, btw. By 10 I had the necessary interior bits out and I was ready for the roll bar. By 1:30 I had the bar bolted to the 4 existing seat belt mounting points, and the seat belts reattached. All of this with only one trip to the hardware store! It's all downhill from here, right??? :rolleyes:

Thanks for the tips last night! Those first four bolts were definitely a little bitchy, and it took some encouragement from my foot and a little Dremel work to get them all to line up and bite without cross-threading.Quote:

OH, and by the way... the glass window on the Robbins top clears the M2 Sport bar perfectly, and it looks like I won't have any problems with the hard top, either.
That's good, looks like the only compromise you'll have to make is that your going to carry around 70lbs or however much of roll bar all the time, instead of me switching between wanting to go on a track and wanting to be able to use my HT (which I can't wait to see how my merlot HT looks on my black car, should look pretty nice IMO). That's okay though I don't think I want a roll bar for DD anyway.Quote:

I don't think that bar would do me much good either, but its the tallest one that will clear a soft top or isn't custom made so it's the best I'm gonna get. Seeing as I have to remove the bar anyway after Laguna I may look into that if I can find one for close to what I could sell my current bar for, so it wouldn't be $400 out of pocket for a different one.

Yes... the greatness of harness tabs...
There's are threaded tabs on the down-tubes behind each each seat that will accept an eye bolt. The harness just clips to that.
Oh I see them now. I didn't know they were threaded holes. Are there ones that you can weld in place on the downtubes that the harness clips to? That's what I thought harness tabs were.

I remember installing my HDHTDD rollbar several years back. Took a little time, but well worth it. I installed mine specifically for DEs and it worked great. Of course, I then turned my car into a spec miata and sold my rollbar to a fellow DEer..

If you want to take the roll bar out you could always weld a harness bar to the roll bar itself and not need the eye-bolts.

Here are the final pics after I trimmed the deck plate and got the carpet back in. BTW, I went to Home Depot a while back and got a big chunk of house carpet padding to replace the worn-out mess underneath the deck carpet.
