First real event for the new segment timer!
Tested everything at the practice & ran without a hitch. If it works in the constant rain for 6 hours, a nice dry day should be a breeze.... at least I say that now. :D
Should be fun to see everyones segement times!!
BTW, in couple of events we'll have timer equipement capable of having 2 segement times for the courses!!
Brad,
Will Texas Region have sound equipment out this coming weekend? I'm sure there are a few of us who weren't able to make th efirst ER event that are curious how loud our cars are.
That would be great, Mark. I appreciate it!
Yes, there will be a sound meter at the Pennington Field event on Sunday.
Texas Region Solo has purchased a digital sound meter & Calibrator to try & help competitors meet the new National event sound rule.
The meter meets the same specs as what the 2010 Solo Rules have required for measurement: ANSI type II specifications, A weighting, Slow response settings.
The meter results are for your personal referance only! This doesn't mean that if your car is below 100db at this event, that it will be below 100db at another event!
There are many variables that affect sound measurements.
Best advice; make sure your car has a safe margine below 100db!!
We'll try to post the readings at the event & afterwards.
OMG!
SCCA posted a Course Map before the event!
There will also be a limited number of printed course maps at the event. Novices have first dibs on the maps. So you might want to print a map before coming to the event if you absolutely want one.
Remember - Annual Tech is on Saturday at the same location!
For more info on the Annual Tech program check the TX Solo webpage.
Big thanks to Mr. jrj512 for taking on this position for Texas Region this year!
We're a pain in the rump to deal with
Mostly sunny. Breezy. Highs in the lower 50s. Northwest winds 15 to 20 mph increasing to 20 to 25 mph by noon. Wind gusts up to 35 mph are possible. Wind chill readings as low as 18 to 23 in the morning.
Let's see, 3 runs of 46 seconds in windy cold conditions or sleep in?
See ya next time.
dude... you get FOUR runs!
I know that fourth run makes all the difference ;)
From SCCA mailing list -
I'm sure many of you have been watching the weather forecast for Sunday & have been curious if the 1st event will take place.
As of today - Friday, March 19th the event will still go as planned.
More than anything I wanted to make sure folks dress appropriately for the weather. Please don't show up in a T-Shirt & shorts for Sunday & think a blanket wrapped around you will keep you warm!
Time to bring out you warmest coat, gloves & a stocking cap!!
If there's any change in the status of Sunday's event, we'll make an announcement on the email list & put it on the Solo webpage too
Saturday...Rain and thunderstorms in the morning...then a slight chance of rain and snow in the afternoon. Windy. No snow accumulation. Highs around 40. Northwest winds 15 to 20 mph increasing to 20 to 30 mph in the afternoon. Wind gusts up to 40 mph are possible. Chance of precipitation 90 percent.
I'm the ::OldMan:: with circulation problems! Come on out. It'll be fun when we're talking about it in August. I know you guys haven't put your mittens in the attic yet.Quote:

SCCA Solo event #1 is CANCELLED due to weather!
thank you.
Well back to bed. Stupid weather.........:-(
Dammit. :(
I was not looking forward to this event. I'm glad it was cancelled. Stupid weather.
Gotta love mother nature when we can pull-off a 70-degree Winter Series in January, but the late-March event is snowed under. Damn you Obama!
