I plan to be there.
I'm on baby-standby, but I'm tenatively "in."
Im in!
I'll email them about the "refund", what do i need to different on my registration.
I'll be there. Maybe my college son as well. School is almost out.
I plan to be there but so far the PCA events I have tried to attend seems to attract rain, lets hope for no rain. Forcast already looks a little iffy.
I'll be there too.
If you paid a entry fee for the cancelled PCA AX, when you register for this event don't pay. The fee will be applied to this event.
Travis Howard
PCA Time Trial Chair
96 Miata, 74 Porsche 914,
I'll have to pass. Son graduating in Seattle this weekend.
I am thinking about going, but with a 50% chance of rain I wonder if it will be canceled. Was the last autocross at Mineral Wells a special case or do they always cancel events because of a little rain? I am talking about the Sunday autocross I understand why they canceled the TT on Saturday.
Yes I am still a little bitter, but I would like to give PCA another chance. Just not sure how they do things.
(I also need a lot of practice if I am going to get to the 10,000 hours of seat time to be good. I am going to need a lot of tires!)
They do not usually cancel for rain. I think it was more of a case of not enough workers compounded by the rain. You might want to email the AX Chair from their web site to verify.
hope they don't cancel for rain. That'd be a bad precedent to set! :)
So, are we suppose to leave it on pending?
I might try to make it the weather looks ok.
Unless we get a big surprise tonight, I'm in.
Weather turned out great, a little rain in the am but completely dry by the first run.
Yep, dry weather accept for some light rain in the AM. All runs were dry, though.
I hated the course when I walked it and I expected even less watching the first heat drivers, but it turned out to be a fun course once I drove it. It was a very good excercise in letting the line dictate your speed. If you gave it up and kep your line, it all worked out great! I would have had FTD if it were not for stupid Clovis in his stupider Lotus Exige S.
Nice job, PCA!
Stupid Lotus... :) Nice driving Jimmy Jan!
I thought the course was a good lesson in control, but the "witch hat" pivot cone was a killer. Never figured out the right line/speed.
Great course! and yes, that last cone was a killer.
Had a great time and sharing with my son is always a treat for me. Still plenty to learn about the car and me. Great Day.
The first half of the course was fun, the second half was painful, just to tight. I also did not like having cars in grid so close to the finish.
Overall the course really favored smaller cars. Getting the M3 through it was tough.
I would like to see more courses design like the first half. Once past the box it got tighter and tighter.
One of the better PCA events I've been to. 5 runs before noon, home by 1!
Also agree that the course was a bit too tight towards the end. The pivot before the finish blew. Thanks to the dude on the scooter for that gift... :punchout:
Regards,
Stupid Lotus Driver
Course was tough but I like the fact that it isn't easy or like alot of the others. I do think that the finish was pretty hairy though if you got it right.
Results?
Here is a link to the results

The reason the course tightened up at the end was to limit the speed of the cars as they finished. As mentioned the cars were gridded close to the end of the course and safety was the deciding factor.
If you carried to much speed through the finish you collected some cones.
If you didn't know, I was the guy who teched your car.
Travis - thanks for the results, and for putting on a great event.
Can't remember if I've run ax with the PCA before? Does the OJ class require black driving gloves or is it some sort of spec Bronco thing?
If you were not in a P-car, they used to class you in OJ (Other Japanese), OG (Other German), OA, and so on. They have since changed that in order to class the other cars better, but some poeple are still classed the old way for some reason. Frankly, I find the new classing a little confusing and I would prefer just going back to the old versions.
BMW is the same way. They have comprehensive classing for BMWs, but the other cars are just in X, Y, or Z. I like the X, Y, and Z so much that I pretty much copied it for the NTAXS. KISS -- Keep It Simple, Stupid.
