Just took the radio. They didn't break the glass to get in, nor did they even bother to unscrew anything. Just ripped it all out. Those motherf'rs.

Bummer.
Thieves are A-holes. Sorry for the bad news.
they broke into my expy two weeks ago for the same. figured i was somewhat safe with a 10 year old car and a $150 radio. no such luck. sorry to hear about it.
Stock Radio or was it something nice??
Thieves suck.................
Crackhead tried to steal a $90 Dual stereo from daughter's Corolla. It was so secure that they tore up the entire dash but never got the head unit, so they stole the faceplate. I think I might be better off to make it easy to steal next time.
I know how you feel. I had a car stolen out of my driveway. The idiots got busted like 6 hours later at 7-11 for tryong to steal a bag of chips. Not the brightist star in the sky. what really pissed me off was not having any way to collect for the damage they did to the car. about 1000 dollars worth.
CRACKHEADS SUCK::Rant::
sorry for your trouble!!!

Were your doors unlocked? You're lucky, I know from experience that a radio is cheaper and easier to replace than a new top or a window. Hopefully they didn't damage the center dash console very much.
Couple years ago in a gated community with security, I had some crackhead slash my top from window to window, and judging by the footprints on the trunk, he had climbed in head first between the top spars, broke my cup holder and made off with less than a dollar in random change. My radio was still there, my sunglasses and bunch of random CDs and things were still in the passenger seat where I left them, but he got all my shiny change...I didn't know crack was that cheap. The doors weren't locked and my car was bone stock back then.
Cost me a new freaking top for all that. I thought leving the doors unlocked was best, maybe I should start leaving them open instead.
Sorry to hear about your loss. Did you leave the face plate on your stereo?
You mean this happened with the doors unlocked?
Damn, I'm going to have to start leaving my windows down.
Ever since my Integra got stolen (the thieves put 2,100 miles on it in three weeks before the cops noticed it on the street, totaled it in a chase, and charged the one guy they caught with "unauthorized use of a motor vehicle), I have had no problem whatsoever with the idea of shooting a car thief. Well, one problem: I'd rather beat them to death with a baseball bat.
Yes I did. And from now-on, I'm going to leave it off. AND I'm going to get a padlock/chain to secure the back of the stereo to the car itself so they won't be able to pull it out if it happens next time. I did this to my home computer and flat screen monitor after my neighbor's apartment was broken into. I just bolted all of it to my huge table with a glass top, so if they want the computer they'll have to take the whole table.
Only problem, he may turn the bat on you since he's already in the car.
This happened at home? What part of NRH do you live?
I just got an email saying that wasp spray is the way to go - shoots up to 20 or 30 feet away and is pretty accurate.
I have found that in the past a nice 9 iron will do the job. It worked on a stupid drunk under my window at 4:30 in the morning. Wasp spraw would work too (kindda like mase), if you don't want to get too close.
I have also found that my 65 pound dog HATES people that don't belong, and she will chase them down.
Although she loves the kids next door as well as their little dog. the best thing is a barking dog. they tend to move on to someplace quieter.
Just a thought
Is there anyone in the D/FW area who specializes in repairing Miatas?
And where can I buy a hardtop?
http://www.miatasolutions.com/
And just in case google turns up another Dallas Miata specialist, read this thread:
http://www.dfwmiata.com/showthread.p...f-Alder-Circle
As for hardtops, they are occasional available used for around $850. Check the classifieds on the forum and Craigslist. Beware that hardtops are a theft target too. Many people either use something like the Top-Loc or remove the latches and bolt the top on. Not convenient if you like topless motoring.
I always thought a hardtop was the way to go for theft prevention, but just read on the pointy board that the back window of a Power Retractable Hardtop was broken out for a GPS. Gotta hide that stuff. It happened during the day.
car cover...
cover's everything, nobody can see what you have in your car, or your car period...
although technically they can still break in, how many people do you actually think will bother?
not to mention the whole protection from the weather and UV rays...
Especially in Texas, I imagine it's nice to wake up, jump in the car, and your interior not be 200 degrees...
This is exactly why I'm moving away from the DART train station that's going in down the street which puts me between public transportation and fried chicken. I specifically stated the "fried chicken restaurant" because someone from the neighboring apartment complex confessed to "stabbing a punk on his way to the fried chicken restaurant."
