5/30 Dallas Karting Complex Results

I think I can speak for everyone when I say we had a BLAST. We each did 3 sessions for $60. There were 22 of us, so we broke in to 2 run groups. The first session was practice, Session 2 was qualifying, and then there was a consolation race and a Championship race, each with an F1 style start. Here are the results:

*By winning the consolation Race, Nails earned a spot in the championship race, but having to race back to back seemed to be a little too much and he ended up coming in early.

To give you an idea of how fast the Karts are, the track is .8 mile and the faster drivers were getting in to the 1:13s.

So, besides the standings, how was it? Worth it? Better than expected? Etc, etc...

I thought it was great. The facility is top notch, the staff is great, the track is very nice and has something like 14 different configurations that can be run, very worth the price, and the carts are a lot faster than I expected. I heard at least 2 or 3 of the guys seriously contemplating buying a Kart and getting a membership. I went and checked prices on used karts on Craigslist as soon as I got home.

I was robbed!!!

Definitely a great way to waste an afternoon. I had a blast! Unfortunately, after qualifying 4th for the feature race I learned that hung-ho passes are a good way to move backwards. :( apparently I'm a better time trialer than W2W racer. ;)

I had a blast, and I'll definitely be back. Great people, great facility, great fun. If you didn't go you missed out!

That beat the hell out of me. Lotsa fun but next time I'm wearing a back brace, padded bike shorts, and gloves.

that was fun, but my back and outer thighs are a mass of blue. i have a feeling many of us are gonna hurt in the morning. nails, jeffman, qwan and i did a 4th race for $10 more. well worth it.

i'm pretty damn sore. had a great time -- many thanks for organizing this event! i'm still amazed that i made it into the championship race. y'all are intimidating lol

Fun, competition, laughs, great facility, outstanding hospitality by the staff, amazed that they let us do the practice, qualifying, and side-by-side rolling start for some great w2w racing. The karts are stout, Nails and I had a pretty good head-on contact at a pretty good clip in the practice session and nothing broke and we were unharmed for the most part.

Apologies to Marcus for tagging him pretty hard in the big braking zone, putting him in the wall. Glad you only lost the one position (now that I think of it, I should have let you get the spot back, sorry!).:facepalm:

Had a great view of the leaders (Eli and Ken O) and was secretly hoping for the classic takeout so 3rd could slip by for the win, but they raced hard and clean, so I had to finish behind Ken O's stupid bimmer again ::Rant::, wait, umm, check that, never mind..

About 220 miles found trip from my place and worth every mile.

i had a BLAST! apologies if i ran into anyone. i get over excited and my competitive side takes over so i get too aggressive. in the end it hurt me despite the day's 2nd best lap time.

I'm interested in the night league, but it will have to wait until Melissa's arm is healed enough to pick up a toddler.

Yeah I was just reading that. Price isn't bad, but they don't list start times. I wonder if they will use softer tires, or the hard compounds that they have on for the rentals? I'm interested just need more info. I do like that the fact it is a spec class as that just makes it that much more fun.

The only part of me that is sore now are my ribs where I kept hitting the side of the seat. Evidently they make a rib vest to prevent that so I may have to look into that more if I want to do this more.

Did you use the seat insert? I used one in the qualifying and race sessions, and it made a big difference.

I think the only thing I'd change next time would be gloves (got a couple of small blisters from fighting the wheel) and jeans instead of shorts. Down the big straights I could feel my shorts bellowing out like air brakes. :wink:

BTW, considering the cost (and for me, that fact that it's closer than any autocross/DE location), I can see spending a lot of time out at DKC in the future if they can keep the equipment maintained.

I got as much of a thrill from the close kart racing as I have at any DE, and since there are no associated /tire/brake/fuel/wear costs, a day out there is cheaper than even a local autocross event.

Hmm... I'll bet I could tow a shifter kart with the S2000... :wink:

I went to MSR on Sunday and spent way more in gas than I did for the three sessions we did in the karts! I'm not even going to think about tires, brakes....

Shouldn't be a problem at all... A friend of mine regularly towed a double decker Kart trailer to events hundreds of miles away with his Boxster.

That's from where the original S2000 autocross equipment trailer came. Those two wings on the back of the lid were for the wider rear tires when the cart sat on top of it.

probably about 45 minutes.
it was 1.5 hrs for me coming from 35w/820

S2000 + kart trailer + kart + pilot (with proper rib protection that still didn't prevent some cracked ribs, I'm told)

It is 18 minutes from my house, and I can be to 75 & 380 or 75 & Plano Parkway in 25 minutes when traffic is light.

I never karted before except for speed zone's slick track. If I do this again I'll be needing to get or make some kind of back protecttion. No cracked ribs; just bruised. Right side a bit more due to the hard braking left turns.

i got a bruise on my ribs from the first run (no seat padding).

It was right at 40 minutes for me in Murphy. Say 50-60 minutes for Plano.
